As the temperatures start to rise, prices start to fall at some of the big-name venues across the country. And if you don’t mind golfing in the warmer weather, you’ll find fantastic deals in Florida, California, Las Vegas, and Arizona from June to early September.

For a more traditional summer vacation, then a trip to coastal South Carolina or Monterey on the California coastline would be right for you! Here are our recommendations for the best summer golf destinations.

Myrtle Beach

Known as the “Golf Capital of the World”, Myrtle Beach is one of the top summer vacation spots on the east coast. Laid out over 60 miles of coastline, the area is packed with beaches, restaurants, bars, amusement parks, attractions, and of course, lots of golf, with over 100 courses from north to south.

Caledonia Golf and Fish Club

Choose from a variety of golf resorts like Legends, Barefoot Resort, and Myrtlewood, or stay right on the beach at the Kingston Plantation Condos and indulge in a golf tour of the area. Some of the top courses include Myrtle Beach National, Pine Lakes, and TPC Myrtle Beach, or venture down to Pawley’s Island and play the dynamic duo of True Blue and Caledonia.

No matter where you visit in Myrtle Beach, you are sure to find golf and activities to suit your group!

TPC Myrtle Beach

Charleston & Kiawah Island

Located two hours south of Myrtle Beach is the historic city of Charleston, SC, another fantastic summer golf destination with history, culture, beaches, and nightlife. While the city often gets all the glory, the surrounding area has some spectacular Low Country golf courses, two notables being RiverTowne Country Club and Charleston National.

Wild Dunes Resort located on Isle of Palms, is a popular stay-and-play golf resort with an ocean-front setting and 36-holes on-site, and 45-minutes to the south of Charleston is the world-renown Kiawah Island Golf Resort.

Wild Dunes Resort

Boasting five championship courses including the Ocean Course, host of the 1991 Ryder Cup and 2012 & 2021 PGA Championships, it is a golfer’s paradise. Like Wild Dunes, Kiawah Island offers hotel & villa accommodations, miles of beach access, restaurants/bars, bike paths, kayaking, and so much more. With daily flights in and out of CHS Airport, Charleston is perfect for your summer vacation this year!

Hilton Head Island

25 miles north of the Georgia/South Carolina border is Hilton Head Island, a destination known for its great beaches, family-friendly atmosphere, and an excellent array of golf courses, with stay-&-play golf resorts or beachfront hotels to choose from.

Home to Harbour Town Golf Links, the annual host of the PGA TOUR’s RBC Heritage tournament, Hilton Head Island is well-known around the world and is a popular choice for summer getaways. The Sea Pines Resort has three courses on-site as does Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort, and both offer villa & rental homes, a host of bars and restaurants and numerous activities to enjoy away from the golf course.

Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort

Other great golf in the area includes Port Royal, Oyster Reef, Shipyard, and Hilton Head National, the perfect course to start or end your trip! For those travelling by air, you have the option to fly into Hilton Head Island Airport (on the island), Savannah International Airport (1 hour away) or Charleston Airport (2 hours away).

Monterey & Pebble Beach

Located approximately 75 miles south of San Jose along the California coastline is the stunning golf destination of Monterey. Monterey is home to an array of five-star accommodations, and golf to match, including the world-famous Pebble Beach Golf Links™.

It’s one of the best locations in the country for a golf vacation and the summer climate is ideal for golf with minimal humidity and highs of 70 degrees. Experience the five-star Pebble Beach Resort® , home to three golf courses and a short course on the property, multiple accommodations, and restaurants to be enjoyed.

Tick some courses off your bucket list or explore some hidden gems all within a short distance from your accommodation. Explore downtown Monterey where you will find restaurants, shops, Del Monte beach, and more for your amusement. For those travelling by air, you have the options of Monterey Regional located just off the peninsula (limited flights from larger cities in the west), San Jose Mineta International Airport (75 miles north), or the San Francisco International (110 miles north).

San Diego

Situated on the southern-most coast of California is the superb city of San Diego. This vibrant area is known for its year-round warm climate, beaches, parks, nightlife, and golf.

Just north of San Diego, in La Jolla, is where you will find a two-time US Open course and annual PGA TOUR stop of Torrey Pines. The golf resort is home to 36 holes of scenic golf that plays along the clifftops overlooking the Pacific Ocean and a 5-star, AAA 5-Diamond hotel, The Lodge, which offers a relaxing and elegant stay and play option.

The Lodge at Torrey Pines, North Course

Further up the coast in Carlsbad is another great golf resort in Omni La Costa Golf Resort which boasts two golf courses, multiple restaurants, a highly-rated spa, and other luxurious amenities. In the surrounding area, you can play other championship courses like Aviara, The Grand, and Crossings at Carlsbad to make up a great golf tour. For those travelling by air, you can fly into the San Diego International Airport (SAN) which offers a plethora of flight options to many large cities across the US.
