Things to do in Lisbon

Lisbon is truly an excellent choice for your next golf holiday, its immaculate and quiet fairways are perfectly complemented by the climate and the superb plethora of activities to do in the city itself. Hilly streets, quirky cable cars, and stunning architecture are just some of the features that will make you fall in love with Lisbon. It is unquestionably one of Europe’s trendiest cities and is the perfect base for the top-class courses in nearby Estoril, Cascais and Sintra. The latter is a picturesque town that boasts extravagant palaces, ancient castles and unspoilt scenery. While in Lisbon we strongly recommend heading to the Bairro Alto area where great-value restaurants offer all kinds of culinary delights.

We’ve pulled together a few of the best things to do in Lisbon should you find yourself away from the course and looking for some entertainment in this great city. The Torre de Belém is a great landmark to experience while in Lisbon. Located on the seafront in Lisbon Quays, the imposing tower shows a glorious fusion of architectural styles and is a must-visit for lovers of history. Take a trip on the historic Tram 28 which has been operating up and down the slopes into the old Alfama district for decades. Starting below the palm spotted slopes of Graca, the tram weaves up the slopes and finishes its journey outside the glorious dome of the Estrela Basilica.

A visit to St George’s castle is great day-out in Lisbon’s historical centre, towering high above the Alfama district, the castle was built over 2000-years ago by the Romans and since then has seen multiple different rulers of Portugal add to its architecture and style. It’s a brilliant place to visit, especially for the history buffs and architectural aficionado among us.
