If you’re looking for golf elsewhere there are a great selection of local courses such as Charleston National Country Club, RiverTowne Country Club and Wild Dunes.

Golf courses at The Villas at Kiawah Island Golf Resort
Named “America’s Toughest Course”, this layout stretches to 7873 yards from the back tees and casts spectacular views across 2 ½ miles of Atlantic coastline. Golfing on The Ocean Course is an experience like no other, from Pro V1 practice balls on the range through to the superbly manicured tee boxes, fairways and greens. In addition, all golfing four balls receive their own personal forecaddie to assist with tee shots, green reading and no doubt the occasional ball searching!
Turtle Point Course
Opened in 1981 and totally renovated in 2016, Turtle Point’s design takes advantage of the island’s natural contours and dune ridges. Flowing through forests of hardwoods and palmetto along backwater lagoons, the subtle greens of Turtle Point demand a keen eye and a deft touch. Even though this course is one of the lesser-known courses on Kiawah Island it still plays 7061 yards of great golf and certainly puts Kiawah Island on the golfing map.
Osprey Point Course
Another ‘Top 75 Resort Course’ from Golf Digest, Osprey Point is a favourite of visitors to the island and plays 6932 yards of impressive golf. Set against a backdrop of pristine natural lagoons, saltwater marshes and maritime forests, the Tom Fazio design is a masterpiece of playability and variety. This spectacular course is another reason why Kiawah Island has been voted one of the best places to play in the US.
Oak Point Course
Secretly tucked away in the centre of the Hope Plantation, just outside of the Kiawah Resort gates lies the newly renovated Oak Point Course. The course plays 6701 yards of exceptional golf and is created on the grounds of an old plantation. It has wide areas of windswept fairways bordered by salty marshes, all interspersed with dense, mixed forest. It may be the lesser of the five courses, but Oak Point still offers a great round of golf and is a fine addition to Kiawah Island.
Cougar Point Course
Proclaimed by many guests as their favourite course on the Island, Cougar Point is the resort’s Gary Player design and plays 6875 yards. The course features dovetail short and long par-4s, with some excellent risk vs reward par- 5s and some incredibly challenging par-3s. One of the more strategic courses on the island, Cougar Point requires a great deal of thought and will require accuracy rather than length. A 'must play' for a Kiawah Island golf holiday.
