Witness Ryder Cup history being made

The Ryder Cup is now regarded as one of the greatest sporting events on the calendar. Samuel Ryder, from whom the cup gets its name, was inspired by the 1926 match at Wentworth when Abe Mitchell teamed up with George Duncan to defeat the great Open champions, James Barnes and Walter Hagen. In the bar after the game, Ryder declared ‘We must do this again’. The rest is history...

When officially introduced in 1927, the two teams competing were originally Great Britain and the United States. The US got off to an impressive start, winning the first five Ryder Cup competitions. This dominance continued both before and after the Second World War, which led to the inclusion of European players in 1979, where the playing field became a lot more even.

In recent years, the Ryder Cup has brought to our screens some of the most memorable displays in the cup’s history. Many of you will have witnessed the ‘Miracle of Medinah’ in 2012, the United States spectacular display at Hazeltine in 2016, and Europe’s demolition job at Le Golf National in 2018. Needless to say, the trend over the past decade has been a back-and-forth tussle with each team winning on their home soil.

In 2025, Team USA will be looking to get payback on home soil following a dramatic defeat at Marco Simone Golf & Country Club in Rome. Will they hit form like they did in Whistling Straits or will we see Europe continue their fine form? One thing is for sure, there is no way to experience it quite like being there in person!

Things to do in New York

Also known as the concrete jungle, the name would suggest New York not being too well known for its golf scene. However, within the 5 electric boroughs of NYC there are at least 13 municipal golf courses open to the public including Bethpage State Park.

Aside from the golf and beyond the fairways there is an abundance of activities to get up to. While in the land of America, it is definitely worth immersing yourself in the culture and watching an American sport. Home to two MLB (major league baseball) teams you can see the New York Yankees and New York Mets. If baseball isn't your style you could watch a New York Knicks basketball game at Madison Square Garden.

The city's allure extends far beyond its sports culture even within its own architecture from its timeless charm of historic buildings to the modern skyscrapers that shape the skyline. Immerse yourself into the culture with the array of enticing street food, from classic hot dogs and pretzels to international flavors that span the globe.

In the city that never sleeps, there's an endless supply of things to do and see. As you explore its streets, stadiums, bars, and restaurants, be sure to absorb the indescribable spirit that defines New York City.
