Since its creation in 1974, following Jack Nicklaus' historic victory over J.C. Snead, THE PLAYERS Championship has been one of the PGA TOUR's most coveted titles for players, and the most anticipated tournament for fans!
Held every year in March at the famous TPC Sawgrass, THE PLAYERS is home to what many people regard as the most famous hole in golf. There aren’t many more challenging layouts on the PGA TOUR’s schedule, and the par-3 17th always provides so much drama on the closing stretch as the world's best compete to be crowned THE PLAYERS Champion.
This tournament is made for the spectators. The grandstands and large sloping mounds provide unobstructed views of the action and creates an unrivaled spectator experience.

- Arnold Palmer’s Bay Hill – home to the Arnold Palmer Invitational every year on the PGA TOUR, Bay Hill Golf Club is one of the most acclaimed golf courses in the USA. There are 27-holes at this stay & play facility, with the Champion and Challenger 9s making up the course you see on TV every year.
- Innisbrook Resort – located near Tampa, the Copperhead Course at Innisbrook is the renowned host to the Valspar Championship. The course is acclaimed for its towering pine trees, lush landscape, and its notorious final three holes – the ‘Snake Pit’.
- Trump National Doral – a former staple on the PGA TOUR, the Blue Monster Course is the epitome of first-class Floridian golf. Expect long fairways, undulating greens, and plenty of challenging water hazards.
- PGA National - situated near Palm Beach, north of Miami, PGA National is one of the top golf resorts in Florida and is a former Ryder Cup host. The Champion Course, one of five layouts on-site, is a must-play for golfers looking to take on the infamous ‘Bear Trap’.
Alternatively, golfers looking to play outside of Florida have some fantastic options nearby. Head north from Jacksonville and discover some big-name venues less than a four-hour drive away in South Carolina. Some of our favorites include:
- Kiawah Island Golf Resort – globally recognized as a leading golf resort in the US, best known for hosting the 1991 Ryder and 2021 PGA Championship. The Ocean Course is the star of the show with its intricate design and stunning selection of oceanfront holes.
- Hilton Head Island – a brilliant golf destination with plenty of outdoor activities and most importantly, golf! Take on the famous Habour Town Golf Links or enjoy a stay & play experience at Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort, with three exceptional golf courses on-site.
After we were no longer able to go to the 2020 PLAYERS Championship, I immediately started looking into how to get tickets and found Golfbreaks. It was so easy because our hotel and tournament tickets were all in the same reservation! Golfbreaks was able to provide us all the info we needed for the capacity changes to THE PLAYERS in 2021 and they helped us ensure that our hospitality tickets were still honored despite these capacity limitations. It was an excellent experience!
