One of the hottest golf destinations in America and arguably the world, Hilton Head Island really has it all from first-class golf courses and luxurious accommodations, to some of the best food and views in the country. It’s a must-visit for golf fans where you can play the likes of Harbor Town Golf Links at Sea Pines Resort, home of the PGA TOUR's RBC Heritage, or one of the immaculate courses at Palmetto Dunes.

Sea Pines Resort

There aren’t many alternative resorts that can proudly boast one of the most recognisable courses in America, but Sea Pines take great delight in the awe-inspiring Harbor Town Golf Links. Unlike the vast majority of PGA TOUR layouts, Harbor Town places an emphasis on intelligent golf, testing the shot-making capabilities of golfers but ultimately, placing a premium on accuracy as this shorter course can be unforgiving if you miss your intended targets.

While Harbor Town Golf Links sits center stage, there are an additional two golf courses at the Sea Pines Resort including Atlantic Dunes and Heron Point. Designed by Davis Love lll and Pete Dye respectively, they are not to be taken lightly and provide an enjoyable test throughout, offering a unique and exciting golfing experience.

Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort

If you are ever on the island, you must head to Palmetto Dunes – which boasts three 18-hole layouts. With designers such as George Fazio, Trent Jones and Arthur Hills, you are guaranteed an afternoon in golfing paradise. For seasoned golfers, the George Fazio loop will offer the greatest test and for novices, the Robert Trent Jones track will provide the most protection while simultaneously offering surreal views of the expansive ocean from the par-5 10th tee.

Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort is the complete package for a trip that encompasses more than just golf, with tennis, bike trails, kayaking, and canoeing all available. There is also an entire marina to explore, tasting all the local delicacies that are available in the rich South Carolina waters.

Port Royal Golf & Racquet Club

On the northeast of Hilton Head Island lies this quintessential South Carolinian golf club with two championship quality golf courses, Barony and Robber’s Row. Both courses meander their way through trees and natural water hazards which make for a compelling set of golf holes that require accuracy off the tee to avoid any trouble.

While they are not as long as courses in the surrounding area, they certainly make up for in layout and design, requiring all types of golf shots in your arsenal. Bask in the sunshine as you work your way round these beautiful courses and be sure to grab a post-round drink and bite to eat from Robber’s Row Grille for traditional cuisine.
