There can almost be too many options when looking at golfing holidays to Spain. Between the glorious sunshine, superb courses, exquisite cuisine, and unlimited options for off-course activities, it can be hard to know where to start.

Fortunately, our expert sales team are here to help make choosing your next break a doddle – why not give them a call? However, if you’re just beginning your research and looking to get up to speed, we’ve compiled a list of our 9 best golf destinations in Spain!

Marbella, Costa del Sol

The southern resort town of Marbella really does have it all. In addition to the near-year-round sunshine and spectacular beaches, the region is also home to Puerto Banus, one of the liveliest marinas in Europe – the ideal place to forget about a bad round on the course.

Puerto Banus Bay

We’ve got several fantastic resorts in the area, including The Westin La Quinta, Sol Marbella Estepona Atalya Park, Hotel Guadalmina Spa and Golf Resort, and Rio Real Golf Hotel & Wellness Resort. All of these are perfect for a no-fuss break, with everything you need right there on-site… including the golf. However, all of these are also ideally located for exploring the wider beaches and towns in the area too, if you find yourself with a spare afternoon.

The Westin La Quinta Golf Resort & Spa

There are plenty of other hotels for those who want to be at the heart of the action and are keen to perhaps explore a multitude of courses, these include Melia Marbella Banus, Occidental Puerto Banus, Barcelo Marbella, and Iberostar Marbella Coral Beach. As we said at the start… there’s a golf holiday for every group imaginable in Marbella!

Iberostar Marbella Coral Beach

Benalmadena, Costa del Sol

Also in the Costa del Sol is the town of Benalmadena. Golf trips here are perhaps more suited to those looking for a slightly more tranquil getaway, with some fabulous hotels that overlook the stunning beach.

Benalmadena beach

The town itself is just a short drive from many of the region’s best courses, including the numerous layouts at La Cala and Lauro Golf Resort. This allows our guests that generally choose to stay at the Sol Timor Apartamentos, Hotel Alay Benalmadena, Hotel MAC Puerto Marina, or Sunset Beach Club, plenty of options when it comes to creating their itinerary.

Like many other towns in the area, Benalmadena is less than half-an-hour from Malaga airport, making transfers from across the UK super simple.

Lauro Golf Resort

Palma, Majorca

We love Palma as a base for a golf break. It’s a wonderful city with loads to do. The food, wine, and wider culture in Majorca’s capital are all superb, and the island’s size means that those staying here can easily visit any course on the island with ease.

Groups looking to stay close to the heart of town generally look at Hotel Palma Bellver by Melia, Melia Palma Marina, or Castillo Hotel Son Vida – with the nearby town or Palmanova also boasting some great retreats.

Arabella Golf Mallorca

Typically, our guests look at a mix of courses around Palma, including Arabella Golf Mallorca, T Golf Palma, and Golf Son Gual Mallorca, although our sales experts can help you to build the best itinerary for your groups’ requirements.

Wherever you head around Palma though, we’re confident you’ll love your stay, and will be tempted to return year-after-year!

T Golf Palma

Murcia

Murcia is Spain’s warmest region throughout the year, with more than 300 days of sunshine annually! The area has also become an absolute hotspot for golfers, with a particular focus on resort-based breaks. The area is home to two of our most popular golf resorts in Europe in La Manga and Mar Menor.

The former is a luxury five-star offering with three courses on-site and has become a go-to for many of our larger groups, due to the resort’s proficiency with handling requests for large tee reservations (thanks to their three courses). La Manga is also blessed with a myriad of bars and restaurants, meaning that there really is no need to step foot off the resort once you’ve arrived.

Grand Hyatt La Manga Club & Resort

Mar Menor has its own par 72 championship course on-site, however, also works closely with the layouts at Saurines Golf, La Torre, El Valle, Hacienda Riquelme, and Alhama Signature Golf.

In addition to these two excellent choices for accommodation, we also see plenty of our customers heading for the five-star DoubleTree by Hilton La Torre Golf & Spa Resort, which offers plenty of luxury, and a wide choice of courses. Or, for those that fancy more of a self-catered getaway, the Roda Apartments are another brilliant choice, and are just five-minutes from Murcia airport.

La Torre Golf

Sotogrande, Costa de Sol

Those looking for a serious golfing treat should consider Sotogrande for their next golf getaway. The beautiful coastal setting is home to some of the strongest layouts in Europe, including the famous Ryder Cup host course, Valderrama.

There are also the world-class designs at Real Sotogrande and La Reserva Club, which in isolation are worth building a trip around! If all that wasn’t enough, there’s also two great courses at San Roque, as well as another European great at Finca Cortesin – 2023 Solheim Cup host and often ranked as one of the best golf courses in Spain. Add to this the two courses at Alcaidesa Links Golf Resort, which sits 15 minutes south of the town centre, and it’s easy to see why this is one of Spain’s best golf destinations.

La Hacienda Alcaidesa Links Golf Resort

With such strong courses in the area, it’s no surprise to learn that Sotogrande is also home to some of the best hotels in our Spanish portfolio. There are five-star options at SO/ Sotogrande and Finca Cortesin Hotel which can make for unforgettable breaks. However, we also love the 1960’s American-inspired Hotel Encinar de Sotogrande which can even be booked with its own golf pass to take advantage of the many great courses in the area.

SO/ Sotogrande

Alicante

Situated in the south-east of Spain, Alicante continues to be a sought-after destination for golfers looking for some sunshine. The region has a good mix of resorts and standalone hotels, and a fine range of courses.

Leading the pack is La Finca Resort, with its on-site course arguably the strongest in the area. The Las Colinas Residences are also immensely popular, with the Las Colinas Golf & Country Club also one of our favourites in southern Spain.

There’s also the Alicante Golf Club and Bonalba Golf Club which are both great additions to any itinerary. If the choice of quality golf and accommodation in the area wasn’t enough to tempt you – how about the convenience of Alicante airport. Situated within the city, it boasts regular flights from across the UK, meaning you can always squeeze in an extra round on the day of arrival or departure.

La Finca Resort

Girona

Nestled in the northeast of Catalonia, Girona is a beautiful and historic city, and is very often underappreciated. However, with stunning local architecture, Medieval walls, and its famous Jewish Quarter, it's ideal for a day trip when you’re staying nearby.

The big draw here is PGA Camiral Golf & Wellness, with two of Spain’s top golf courses and unrivalled practice facilities. It is an absolute golfer’s paradise and somewhere you can get lost in the sport throughout your break. To bolster the golf course offering, the destination revamped and opened the five-star Hotel Camiral Golf & Wellness which is a truly spectacular hotel. If you’re looking for an on-site destination, packed with class – there are few places in Europe better suited.

PGA Camiral Golf & Wellness

Elsewhere in the region, Emporda Golf also has a hotel on-site, as well as two great courses, which can be played by both residents and those choosing to stay elsewhere. There is also the Real Club de Golf El Prat which is a great 27-hole members’ destination which is located closer to Barcelona and welcomes visitors on selected days during the week. If it ties in with your schedule, it’s well worth a visit!

Real Club de Golf El Prat

Huelva

There are three main choices for our guests in the south-western city of Huelva. The Precise Resort El Rompido is our best value resort on the Costa de la Luz and has two 18-hole championship golf courses to choose from.

There’s also the four-star DoubleTree by Hilton Islantilla Beach Golf Resort which is situated right on the beach front, creating the ideal golf holiday for those wanted a good mix of on and off course sunshine! Our packages generally include unlimited golf on Islantilla Golf Course, with half board options for three nights starting from less than £300 per person!

DoubleTree by Hilton Islantilla Beach Golf Resort

Finally, there’s the bed & breakfast offering at The Residences Islantilla Apartments. This is a fantastic choice for those looking to head out for dinner in the evenings, and can also be paired with a huge choice of courses across the region, including; El Rompido North or South Course, Isla Canela Golf Club, Islantilla Golf, Bellavista Golf Club, Nuevo Portil or La Monacilla Golf Course.

Isla Canela Golf Club

Seville

Our final destination for a great getaway in Spain is the bustling city of Seville. It’s a destination that’s packed with culture, and being located on the Costa de la Luz, is also close to several of our other Andalucian offerings.

There are four main courses that we work with in and around Seville, these are; Real Club Sevilla Golf, Real Pineda de Sevilla Golf Course, Zaudin Golf Course, and Club de Golf Hato Verde. All of these are excellent standalone layouts and can be paired with any of our hotels in the city.

Club Zaudin Golf Sevilla

In terms of hotels, many of our customers enjoy the Hotel Inglaterra Sevilla, and it’s roof top terrace that overlooks the Seville skyline. You may be familiar with the H10 chain of hotels from our wider portfolio, and their H10 Corregidor-Boutique Hotel in the centre of Seville is the perfect base for exploration of this fabulous and historic city.

Finally, those that might want to be situated closer to the golf on the outskirts of the city should check out the Hotel Sevilla Green Suites. Typically, a bed & breakfast offering, the hotel is ideally located for easy access to all of the courses around Seville.
