What makes The Masters so special
One of the world’s most iconic and beloved sporting events, The Masters is a golf tournament like no other. Usually played out every April on Alister MacKenzie’s defining course design, the players lucky enough to be invited to take part compete not for money or ranking points, but for the glory of a Major win, membership of a very special club and the right to wear the coveted Green Jacket.
Just the merest mention of Augusta National Golf Club is enough to send most golfers into a daze. From the brilliant white sand bunkers and emerald fairways to the banks of glorious azaleas behind iconic holes like 12 and 13, this former plant nursery is an explosion of colour.
And because it’s played at the same venue it’s a course that we all know intimately despite never having set foot on the hallowed turf. We can visualise every hole and the great moments that have shaped the tournament’s history - Bubba’s wedge, Tiger’s chip, Sandy’s bunker shot, Jack’s putt, right the way back to Gene Sarazen’s ‘Shot heard around the world’. Defining shots are all etched into Masters folklore, and each year new chapters are added as the roars echo around Amen Corner.

Head into Augusta
The city of Augusta is bustling during Masters’ week, so you must spend a day or an evening here. As the home of soul singer James Brown, you can enjoy live music at almost every turn inspired by himself and other greats. If you’re looking for a bite to eat too, you should definitely try T-Bonz Steakhouse – and possibly get some insights from caddies who frequent there – as well as the Frog Hollow Tavern, Farmhaus, and Calverts. You will most probably find John Daly with his bus set up outside of Hooters, for photo and autograph opportunities. If you’re extremely lucky, he may even play a few songs.
"What can you say! Just to see Augusta in person is staggering, you have to be here to physically see how impressive it is. This was an absolute bucket list trip for me and the whole setup has been entirely seamless and helped make a dream a reality "
