Old Course Hotel St Andrews overview

The Old Course Hotel in St Andrews is rated as an AA Five Red Star property, which is the highest accolade awarded by the AA (equivalent to AAA in the USA). Bordering the renowned 17th ‘Road Hole’ of the Old Course and with spectacular views across the beautiful West Sands beach, The Old Course Hotel exudes pure luxury and charm with 175 lavish bedrooms and suites, an array of award-winning dining options and outstanding Kohler Waters Spa.

Golf Courses

St Andrews is the most famous golfing town in the world, with the Old Course being the jewel in the crown. At the ‘home of golf’ there are 7 courses to choose from, with the New, Jubilee and Castle Courses being the best, and some would say better layouts than the Old. Other big names within an easy drive of St Andrews are Carnoustie and Kingsbarns, and for some pure Scottish hidden gems, we highly recommend Crail and Elie.

The Old Course Hotel exudes pure luxury and charm with 175 lavish bedrooms and suites, many of which overlook the famous 17th ‘Road Hole’ of the Old Course and West Sands beach beyond. Featuring a combination of classically elegant and contemporary interiors, with French designer Jacques Garcia having worked his magic on many of the hotel’s suites, staying at the Old Course Hotel is an absolute treat for golfers and non-golfers alike.

Restaurant & Bars

The Hotel offers a dining option to suit every taste and occasion, with a catalog of places to eat and drink. The Road Hole Golf Course Restaurant (3 AA Rosettes) is the signature restaurant presenting views of the golf course and sea. With an award-winning team and exceptional dining, Road Hole has various palettes from their tasting menu to their set price market menu. The Road Hole Bar is Twinned with the restaurant, perfect for drinks before or after dinner.

The Swilcan Loft restaurant and bar presents a delicious menu alongside breathtaking views of the Old Course, West Sands Beach, and Hamilton Grand. Situated on the fourth floor, it serves dishes crafted from locally sourced Scottish ingredients and a remarkable selection of wines and cocktails.

Located only 5 minutes from the main hotel, Hams Hame Pub & Grill was opened in 2013 and serves fantastic fresh seafood sourced from local fishing villages nearby. Additionally, Hams Hame also has a selection of the finest wines both old and new. Other dining facilities include The Dukes Clubhouse and afternoon tea in the Conservatory.

Spa & Leisure

The philosophy at Kohler Waters Spa is that our bodies are in essence, water…and it is with water that we can restore and replenish them. Water is essential to life.

The 25,000sq ft spa facility includes thirteen treatment rooms, a 20m indoor swimming spa pool, a hydrotherapy pool for therapeutic bathing, steam room for deep muscular relaxation and detoxification, experience showers, refreshing ice fountain, cold plunge pool, and sauna. Plus, there is also a rooftop garden with a hot tub.

Kohler Waters Spa will help de-stress, reconnect, and take care of you.

The Old Course Hotel is in the historic town of St Andrews, often referred to as the ‘home of golf’, situated on the east coast of Scotland.
