Old Course Hotel St Andrews overview
The Old Course Hotel in St Andrews is rated as an AA Five Red Star property, which is the highest accolade awarded by the AA (equivalent to AAA in the USA). Bordering the renowned 17th ‘Road Hole’ of the Old Course and with spectacular views across the beautiful West Sands beach, The Old Course Hotel exudes pure luxury and charm with 144 lavish bedrooms and suites, an array of award-winning dining options and outstanding Kohler Waters Spa.
St Andrews is the most famous golfing town in the world, with the Old Course being the jewel in the crown. At the ‘home of golf’ there are 7 courses to choose from, with the New, Jubilee and Castle Courses being the best, and some would say better layouts than the Old. Other big names within an easy drive of St Andrews are Carnoustie and Kingsbarns, and for some pure Scottish hidden gems, we highly recommend Crail and Elie.
The Old Course Hotel exudes pure luxury and charm with 144 lavish bedrooms and suites, many of which overlook the famous 17th ‘Road Hole’ of the Old Course and West Sands beach beyond. Featuring a combination of classically elegant and contemporary interiors, with French designer Jacques Garcia having worked his magic on many of the hotel’s suites, staying at the Old Course Hotel is an absolute treat for golfers and non-golfers alike.
Restaurant & Bars
Onsite at the Old Course Hotel is either the 3 AA Rosettes rated fine-dining Road Hole Restaurant or more relaxed and family-friendly Sands Restaurant. The Road Hole Bar is known for its extensive choice of over 250 whiskies from distilleries across Scotland, as well as great cocktails, wines, and champagnes whilst experiencing the very best view in golf.
Adjacent to the hotel is the famous Jigger Inn which dates back to the 1850s when it was the stationmaster’s lodge. Now home to golfing memorabilia, crackling open-hearth fires, home-cooked food and a superb selection of Scottish beers, one of which is their own Jigger Ale.
Across the Old Course from the hotel and by the 18th green is Hams Hame Pub & Grill, offering outstanding Scottish cuisine and an extensive choice of wines, whisky and beers.
