The Gleneagles Resort overview

The Gleneagles Resort is set amidst a stunning French chateau, offering comfortable guestrooms with all the modern luxuries you would expect from such a renowned venue. The wealth of leisure facilities and outdoor activities available on-site are just some added extras to this perfect resort.

In 2014, for the third year in a row, Gleneagles Golf Resort was awarded the “Best Golf Resort in the World” at the Daily Telegraph UltraTravel Awards.

Golf Courses at The Gleneagles Golf Resort

With three championship golf courses, Scotland’s PGA National Golf Academy, and regarded as one of the great golf resorts of the world, golf is at the very heart of Gleneagles. There has been golf here for nearly a century, with the first course – The King’s Course – dating back to 1919.

Three 18-hole championship courses provide golfers with a unique choice and spectacular views of the surrounding countryside. The PGA Centenary is a Jack Nicklaus signature course and host to The 2014 Ryder Cup and The 2019 Solheim Cup. The King's and The Queen's courses are considered two of James Braid's finest creations offering a classic heathland and inland links test. The PGA National Academy Course is a 9-hole par 3 course available for more spontaneous golfing enjoyment for families and beginners.

The superb Gleneagles hotel is set in 850 acres of land at the foot of the Scottish Highlands, also known as ‘the palace in the glens’. This world class golf resort offers guests an unrivalled choice of sports and leisure facilities, in addition to the superfluous golf on-site. Gleneagles has 232 luxurious guest bedrooms and suites, each offering the perfect retreat in a tranquil setting. The historic venue retains its traditional ambience, and a ratio of more than one staff member to every guest ensures an unprecedented level of service.

Restaurants & Bars

From the two Michelin star chef, Andrew Fairlie, to the Mediterranean themed Deseo Restaurant, the estate offers a wealth of food and beverage facilities. A selection of restaurants and bars ensure that guests will always be spoilt for choice, with the quality and service of food always kept to the highest standards. Deseo is the hotel’s on-site Mediterranean restaurant, and a great place to try out a various range of foods – from pizza, pasta and tapas to fresh seafood and great steaks.

The Dormy Clubhouse Bar & Grill is the perfect setting to look out onto the stunning golf course. Located next to the Kings and Queens 18th holes, the picturesque panoramic views set the tone to soak in the atmosphere, enjoy some famous malt whisky and enjoy some modern bar food classics.

Auchterarder 70, located within The Dormy Clubhouse, is an atmospheric 1920s-style oak-panelled bar – named after the hotel’s original telephone number – and is a newcomer to the Gleneagles stable, serving craft beer and bar snacks.

With two Rosettes to its name, The Strathearn offers stylish service and magnificent views, plus the chance to sample the highest quality local produce, from mountain lamb to game off the moor. The dedicated team of award-winning chefs lovingly prepares each dish.

Golf courses at The Gleneagles Resort

PGA Centenary Course

With five tee positions available on the PGA Centenary Golf Course, the track varies from 5,065 to 7,081 yards in length, making it one of the longest golf courses in inland Scotland from the back tees. Nicklaus designed this course using the best of his earlier experiences in course architecture to create a real gem. The PGA Centenary also hosts the Johnnie Walker Classic each year, and even more recently hosted the 2014 Ryder Cup, a testament to Nicklaus’ outstanding design and imagination.

The King's Course

A host of eight Scottish Opens in the past, the Kings Golf Course exudes quality through its well-maintained fairways and tightly clipped greens making for perfect playing conditions. However, the golf course is a serious test of a players’ ability, with subtle changes in green and tee elevation making club selection difficult but vitally important.

The Queen's Course

You need to play the Queens Golf Course to experience the true beauty of Gleneagles. Although not the longest of courses at 5660 yards the woodland setting mixes with moorland stretches to give players a truly unique golfing experience. Add to that the water hazards, ditches and lochans that frequently come into play and you’ve got a really enjoyable golf course that players of all levels will enjoy.
