Fairmont St Andrews overview
Fairmont St Andrews, which overlooks the Auld Grey Toun, the spiritual home of the game, offers 36 holes of quality golf alongside a 5-star luxury hotel. Ranking as one of Scotland's best resorts, it is the perfect location to make the most of St Andrews and the surrounding area, with the Old Course just a few miles away.
The fantastic Fairmont St Andrews golf resort has two championship length golf courses with The Torrance and The Kittocks. The Torrance golf course hosted The Open Qualifying Championship in 2010, which shows the high standard of golf that’s come to exist in this area.
There can be few better ways to watch a sunset than taking in the views of the Kittocks and Torrance courses with the St Andrews skyline in the distance while enjoying a relaxed drink in the clubhouse.
The stunning 5-star Fairmont St Andrews golf resort is idyllically set in 520 acres of stunning coastal surroundings. Located at the true ‘Home of Golf’, Fairmont is a unique and lavish resort which boasts so much more than a comfortable stay and world-class golf.
There are two types of accommodation at Fairmont St Andrews - guest rooms and the manor homes. Each of the 209 generous guestrooms are blessed with both style and functionality, offering the latest in room amenities and home comforts. The Manor Homes are of a modern open plan design, situated next to the 4th fairway of the Torrance Course, sharing the same breath-taking views as the resort. Each Manor Home has four large en-suite bedrooms, a farmhouse style kitchen, luxurious living room, dining room and a fully equipped business office. Whichever accommodation style you decide to choose, your stay will ooze class and sophistication.
Restaurant & Bars
Fairmont St Andrews more than lives up to expectations with the quality of dining on show at the hotel. For afternoon tea or a light snack try the Kittocks Den or the Clubhouse, either of which overlook the resort grounds and out to the North Sea. Additionally, The Atrium also serves casual drinks and light bites to eat in a luxurious, yet relaxing environment.
La Cucina is the hotel’s onsite Italian eatery and offers a range of gourmet pizzas, pasta, and some sensational seafood dishes. Other dining options include The Squire, the hotels signature Brasserie style restaurant, and the main hotel bar, The Rock and Spindle.
Spa & Leisure
Fairmont St Andrews' European-style health spa offers a full range of body and beauty treatments, including Swedish massage, deep cleansing facial, hydrotherapy bath, paraffin wrap, salt glow with Vichy shower massage, and thalassotherapy exfoliation. And if that isn't enough, there are also fitness and wellbeing activities, steam rooms, a sauna and Jacuzzi, not to mention a large heated indoor swimming pool.
For the non-golfer there are many local attractions such as castles, distilleries, museums, sea life aquarium, woollen mills and The Byre Theatre, as well as the opportunity to explore the city of St Andrews and the rugged coastline of the Kingdom of Fife. Although not famed for its nightlife, there are plenty of local bars and pubs to keep you busy during your free evenings.
Golf courses at Fairmont St Andrews
Opened just one year after the Torrance Course at Fairmont St Andrews and tougher of the two, the Kittocks is another clifftop stunner with spectacular views of St Andrews Bay and the Auld Grey Toon just 3 miles away. The most striking holes are those along the cliff edge, and with two man-made lakes mixed in with double greens and deep pot bunkers, the Kittocks is a great blend of American-style with the tradition of golf at St Andrews. The Fairmont is a really impressive 36-hole golf resort.
You would think that opening a relatively new course at the home of golf would be a daunting challenge, however with the Torrance Course at Fairmont St Andrews you have a spectacular clifftop links that fits very comfortably amongst its more famous neighbours. The views of St Andrews Bay and the Auld Grey Toon are breath-taking from this vantage point, and at 7200 yards off the tips, the Torrance is a stern test of golf. An Open Championship Qualifying course that ranks top 60 in Scotland.
