Kittocks Course overview

Style: Coastal Links

Opened in 2002 as the Devlin Course and just one year after its sister Torrance Course was unveiled at the Fairmont St Andrews, the Kittocks took its new name from a deep ravine that runs through the course called Kittock’s Den.

A very challenging par-72 measuring just under 7200 yards off the tips, this is a spectacular clifftop course with breath-taking views across the River Tay estuary and the famous medieval town of St Andrews.

The most striking holes are those along the cliff edge, and with two man-made lakes mixed in with double greens and deep pot bunkers, the Kittocks is a great blend of American-style with the tradition of golf at St Andrews. With a friendly start, you could easily be lulled into a false sense of security, however, from the par-5 5th hole there is no let-up.

Signature Holes

Many golfers enjoy playing the 15th hole, a long par-4 which doglegs towards the hanging cliff-edge green. The 17th however, which used to be apart of the Torrance Course, is also an awe-inspiring hole that requires a second shot over the cliff edge to a large clifftop green.

Did You Know?

The legendary late Gene Sarazen assisted Bruce Devlin, Sam Torrance, and Denis Griffiths with the designs of both courses at the Fairmont St Andrews. ‘The Squire’ as he was known, was the first professional golfer to win the ‘Grand Slam’.
