Kittocks Course overview
Location: St Andrews, Scotland | Style: Coastal Links | Length: 7,192 yards | Par: 71-72 | Designer: Bruce Devlin & Gene Sarazen | Founded: 2001
Ranked the no.17 course in Fife by Top 100 Golf Courses
Perched dramatically on the cliffs overlooking St Andrews Bay, the Kittocks Course delivers one of the most visually striking golf experiences in Scotland. Originally designed by Bruce Devlin and Gene Sarazen, this championship layout winds its way along a rugged coastline, combining traditional links characteristics with bold, modern shaping and unforgettable sea views.
The course is defined by its undulating fairways, rolling greens, and exposed clifftop holes, many of which offer panoramic vistas across the North Sea and towards the historic “Home of Golf.” While unmistakably inspired by classic links golf, Kittocks introduces a more contemporary feel with dramatic elevation changes and strategic bunkering. It has quickly built a reputation as one of the most scenic - and testing - layouts in the St Andrews area, rewarding creativity and shot-making in equal measure.

Signature Holes
The par-4 15th is widely regarded as the standout. Doglegging towards a green perched on the edge of the cliffs, it demands both precision and nerve. The approach shot, played towards a “hanging” green above the shoreline, is as exhilarating as it is intimidating.
Did You Know?
The legendary late Gene Sarazen assisted Bruce Devlin, Sam Torrance, and Denis Griffiths with the designs of both courses at the Fairmont St Andrews. ‘The Squire’ as he was known, was the first professional golfer to win the ‘Grand Slam’.
