Overview of The Alpine
The Alpine at Boyne Mountain Resort is a championship course renowned for its rolling terrain, stunning elevation changes, and breathtaking views of Northern Michigan’s forests and lakes. Designed to take full advantage of the natural landscape, the course meanders through hardwood forests and open meadows before concluding with a spectacular downhill approach to the 18th green, set against the backdrop of Deer Lake.
Designed by Bill Newcomb, The Alpine stretches to just over 7,000 yards from the tips, with five teeing areas in total making it accessible for golfers of all levels. Tree-lined fairways, strategic bunkering, and undulating greens provide a mix of challenge and playability.
A previous host to the Michigan PGA Championship, it can provide a tough test to some of the game’s best players and remains one of the state’s premier layouts. With its scenic beauty and memorable finishing hole, it is a must-play for golfers visiting Boyne Mountain Resort.
Signature Hole
The 18th hole is The Alpine’s most iconic. This downhill par 5 requires both precision and power, with the approach played across water to a well-protected green that’s back-dropped with views of Deer Lake – it’s one of Michigan’s most picturesque finishing holes.
