The Els Club, Vilamoura

Opened in July 2025, The Els Club, Vilamoura is a refined golf destination in the Algarve on-site at Victoria Golf Resort & Spa, designed by legendary golfer Ernie Els. Making it the first Els Club in Europe. It also holds the title of being the first private golf club in the Algarve.

The clubhouse, modern in style yet blending with the natural surroundings, offers sweeping views across the course and creates a private, tranquil atmosphere for members and guests. Its open terraces and warm interiors make it a welcoming spot to reflect after a round.

Course Overview

The course itself is a par-72 championship layout, designed to challenge skilled players while remaining accessible to a wide range of golfers. It stretches across rolling terrain with generous fairways, large undulating greens, and carefully placed bunkers that demand strategic play.

Water features and native vegetation are woven naturally into the landscape, giving the course both visual appeal and a strong sense of place.

Signature Holes

A highlight for many visitors is the signature hole, the par-5 12th, which requires both power and precision, regarded as one of the best holes in Vilamoura by many.

With water guarding much of the approach and fairway contours that invite bold decisions, it is a hole that balances risk and reward beautifully while providing dramatic views of the Algarve’s countryside.

Did You Know?

Before redesigning and becoming an Els Club the club played host venue for the annual Portugal Masters on the European Tour, previously won by big names such as Shane Lowry, Padraig Harrington and Thomas Pieters.
