Vale da Pinta Golf Course is one of the Algarve’s most established and characterful layouts, offering a traditional parkland-style round framed by rolling terrain and mature olive trees. As the sister course to Gramacho, it provides a slightly more conventional test, while still delivering plenty of strategic interest.

Ideally positioned just moments from Carvoeiro, the greens are well-protected and subtly contoured, encouraging precise approach play and confident putting. With its attractive setting and balanced design, Vale da Pinta appeals to golfers of all abilities.

Golf course overview

Ronald Fream’s design makes excellent use of the natural landscape, incorporating gentle elevation changes and strategically placed hazards to create a varied and engaging layout. Tee shots often require careful club selection to find the ideal landing area, as overly aggressive play can bring bunkers and water into play.

Several holes feature lakes that influence both tee shots and approaches, increasing the strategic element without overwhelming the round. Bunkering is thoughtfully integrated, particularly around the greens where protection is strongest and precision becomes essential.

The routing flows comfortably through the countryside, with many holes framed by ancient olive trees that add both visual appeal and an additional layer of challenge. The overall result is a course that rewards accuracy and intelligent decision-making, offering a fair but absorbing test.

Signature hole

The par-3 13th is widely regarded as Vale da Pinta’s signature hole. Playing over water to a well-guarded green, it demands a committed strike and precise distance control. The picturesque setting contrasts with the technical challenge, making it both memorable and decisive.
