The Blue Monster Course at Trump National Doral is one of the most iconic championship layouts in American golf. Originally designed by Dick Wilson and comprehensively renovated by Gil Hanse in 2014, the course has evolved into an even more demanding and dramatic test, while preserving its rich tournament heritage.

For more than 50 years, the Blue Monster hosted PGA TOUR events, earning a reputation as one of the toughest stops on the professional circuit. Its Florida-style design features wide, rolling fairways, immaculate greens, and a relentless use of water hazards and deep bunkering that challenge golfers from tee to green. While elevation change is minimal, the course’s scale, conditioning, and strategic design create a visually impressive and mentally demanding round.

Signature Holes

The signature hole at Trump National Doral is the 18th on the Blue Monster Course. A long par-4 measuring 473 yards from the back tees, it features a vast water hazard running the entire length of the left side.

A narrow landing area makes the tee shot challenging, while the water then juts out in front of the green, creating an intimidating and demanding approach. This visually striking finishing hole provides a thrilling conclusion to the round and has been the stage for countless dramatic moments.
