During our August 2025 trip to Cabo, we witnessed firsthand how the desert meets sea in spectacular fashion. From the cliffs above the Sea of Cortez to windswept dunes, designers like Jack Nicklaus, Greg Norman, and Robert Trent Jones Jr have left their signature across this region in dramatic fashion.

1. Cabo del Sol Golf Club (Desert course)
Par: 72 | Yardage: 7,342 | Designer: Tom Weiskopf | Good for: Stunning ocean backdrops | Top 100 Courses Mexico ranking: 16th
Why play here? The Cabo del Sol Desert Course, opened in 2001, is consistently ranked among the Top 100 Courses Outside the U.S. by Golf Digest and a Top 10 Course in Mexico & the Caribbean by Golf Magazine.
Carved through canyon-like arroyos, rugged rock formations, and desert flora, it blends championship challenge with resort playability. Wide fairways welcome golfers of all levels, while bold bunkering and tricky approaches demand precision. Stunning Sea of Cortez backdrops make it an absolute must-play.
Signature hole: The par-5 5th offers dramatic views and tests accuracy from tee to green, the longer hitters can reach it in two, but will likely bring danger into play by taking the aggressive approach.
Travel tip: Book early to secure tee times, as the Desert Course is one of the most sought-after in Cabo.

2. Quivira Golf Club
Par: 72 | Yardage: 7,085 yards | Designer: Jack Nicklaus | Good for: Dramatic cliffside holes | Top 100 Courses Mexico ranking: 11th
Why play here? Since opening in 2014, Quivira Golf Club quickly rose to acclaim to become one of the world’s 100 greatest golf courses by Golf Digest. Designed by golf legend Jack Nicklaus, this course features dramatic cliffside holes with sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean.
Guests of Pueblo Bonito Resorts enjoy exclusive access, making this one of Cabo’s premier golf experiences. Expect 18 unforgettable holes, each with its own unique character.
Signature hole: The 13th is certainly the pick of the bunch form a visual point of view, a par-3 hugging the ocean line with danger right. You will certainly a take a par and move quickly on!
Travel tip: Arrive at least an hour before your tee time to enjoy the first comfort station before heading out, it sits high above the Pacific Ocean, offering stunning views.

3. Palmilla Golf Club
Mountain/Arroyo Course - Par: 72 | Yardage: 6,939 yards | Designer: Jack Nicklaus | Good for: 27 holes on site to enjoy | Top 100 Courses Mexico ranking: 18th
Why play here? Known as the “Grand Dame of Los Cabos Golf,” Palmilla was Nicklaus’ first design in Latin America. The course features three distinct loops (Mountain, Arroyo and Ocean) that showcase desert canyons, sweeping mountains, and coastal fairways alongside the Sea of Cortez.
Regularly ranked among the top courses in Mexico, Palmilla is as scenic as it is challenging. Facilities include a fully stocked clubhouse, practice facilities, and premium Callaway rentals.
Signature hole: The 13th hole on the Mountain course stands out. A 534-yard par-5 off the back tees with water hugging the right hand side of the fairway the whole way. A par is a good score here!
Travel tip: The Arroyo/Mountain combination is considered the best routing and the one we recommend trying to play the most.

4. Cabo Real
Par: 71 | Yardage: 6,848 yards | Designer: Robert Trent Jnr. | Good for: A tough test of golf | Top 100 Courses Mexico ranking: 21st
Why play here: Cabo Real has hosted two PGA Senior Grand Slam events and is known for its technical design and ocean views. The course recently swapped its nines, so the front is now more forgiving, while the back nine offers a sterner test.
Designed so that uphill holes play downwind and downhill holes play into the breeze, the course provides a clever balance that challenges golfers at every turn and tests course management.
Signature hole: The 18th is a memorable finishing hole, with views of the Sea of Cortez in the distance and a strategically positioned lake that lies left of the fairway, it is a hole where anything could happen.
Travel tip: A morning round gives more favorable conditions and avoids high winds that pick up in the afternoon. You will also get the chance to spot whales breaching offshore between December and April form several ocean-view holes.
Cabo Real Golf Club 18th hole
5. Solmar Golf Links
Par: 72 | Yardage: 7,241 yards | Designer: Greg Norman | Good for: Links-style design
Why play here? A relatively new course, opened in 2020, Solmar Golf Links is a remarkable course that offers golfers a unique blend of oceanfront play and traditional links-style design. Designed by golf legend Greg Norman, the course’s links style shines through in the numerous greenside pot-bunkers commonly seen on UK courses and at the British Open Championship.
Signature hole: The Par-3 17th standing at 191 yards long with nothing but water surrounding the island green, this hole poses a true challenge to even the very best golfers.
Travel tip: The Links is perfect for golfers staying at nearby Solmar Resorts who want luxury accommodations paired with a world-class course.

6. Club Campestre San Jose
Par: 72 | Yardage: 6,996 yards | Designer: Jack Nicklaus | Good for: Elevated holes and panoramic ocean views
Why play here? Set against the Sierra de la Laguna Mountains, Club Campestre San José blends picturesque scenery with challenging play. The front nine is relatively flat, but the back nine climbs into the mountains, the elevated holes give panoramic ocean views helping Campestre be known as one of the most beautiful courses i Cabo.
Its mix of beauty and strategy makes it a favorite among both locals and visitors.
Signature hole: The par-4 10th, perched high in the mountains, delivers breathtaking vistas over the Sea of Cortez.
Travel tip: Make sure to bring a camera or phone fully charged — the elevated back nine has some of the best panoramic views of the Sea of Cortez in Cabo, especially around holes 10–12.
Hole 10 at Club Campestre San José
7. Cabo San Lucas Country Club
Par: 72 | Yardage: 6,852 | Designer: Roy Dye | Good for: Wide fairways and a forgiving design
Why play here? Just minutes away from Cabo lies Cabo San Lucas. A great test for golfers of all abilities the course features wide, forgiving fairways, desert vegetation, and dramatic views of Land’s End and the iconic Arch of Cabo San Lucas.
While it doesn’t have the same cliffside drama as Quivira or Cabo del Sol, its value, location, and friendly design make it a popular choice for visitors seeking a relaxed yet scenic round.
Signature hole: A dog-leg towards the Land's End the par-5 7th provides both a risk-reward opportunity and one of the most memorable vistas on the course.
Travel tip: Afternoon rounds here are often quieter, making it easier to get last-minute tee times compared to other Cabo courses. It’s a great option if you’re looking to squeeze in an extra game during your trip.

Q: What’s the best time of year to golf in Cabo? A:The peak golf season runs from November through May, when the weather is warm but not overly humid, and the risk of rain is low. Summer (June–September) is hotter and more humid, with potential tropical storms, but you’ll often find better deals and less crowded tee times.
Q: Can I bring my own golf clubs, or should I rent in Cabo? A: Most American golfers bring their own clubs, and major airlines (including American, Delta, and United) allow golf bags as checked baggage. However, if you’d prefer to travel light, top Cabo courses and resorts offer high-quality rental sets
Q: Are tee times in Cabo easy to book, or should I plan ahead? A: Tee times at premium Cabo courses sell out quickly, especially in peak season (November–April).
