Palmares Golf Course overview

Featuring 27-holes that are arranged across three distinct loops, Praia, Lagos and Alvor, with the Praia and Lagos nines forming the main 18-hole championship layout. The design places a strong emphasis on strategic positioning, particularly on the coastal holes where wind, elevation and exposure add an extra layer of challenge.

Wide fairways invite confident driving, but well-placed bunkering and sloping greens reward thoughtful course management and precise approach play. The seamless transition from inland parkland to open seaside terrain creates a round that feels both varied and memorable.

Signature hole

One of the highlights of the round is the par-5 4th on the Praia nine. A 594-yard beast it plays downhill towards the ocean and offers breathtaking views across Meia Praia beach and the Atlantic Ocean.

Long hitters may be tempted to attack in two, but coastal winds and a well-guarded green demand respect. It’s a true risk-and-reward hole that perfectly captures the spirit of Palmares.

Post round

After your round, the modern clubhouse provides an excellent setting to relax and soak up the scenery. With views across the course and coastline, it’s the ideal spot for a drink or meal while replaying the round hole by hole.

Lagos is just minutes away, offering a lively mix of restaurants, bars and historic charm, while the nearby beaches provide the perfect option for unwinding after golf.

Located just outside the historic town of Lagos in the western Algarve. Set above Meia Praia beach, the course enjoys sweeping views across the Atlantic Ocean while remaining within easy reach of local resorts, beaches and the region’s vibrant dining scene. Faro Airport is approximately one hour away, making Palmares an accessible yet tranquil base for a Portugal golf break.
