The Champions Course
at TPC Scottsdale
Scottsdale & Phoenix, USA
TPC Scottsdale overview
Par: 71 | Yardage: 7,152 | Designed by: Randy Heckenkemper
Originally built on the site of what was previously TPC Scottsdale’s Desert course, the new Champions Course was designed by Randy Heckenkemper to fit seamlessly into the natural Scottsdale desert terrain.
Although lacking the reputation of the Stadium Course (home to the [Phoenix Open][4]), this course still provides a formidable challenge to test your golfing skills. The McDowell Mountains add a scenic backdrop to several holes. A creek runs through parts of the course, while a scattering of birch and pine trees complements the gently rolling desert layout.
Champions Course key features
- On the same site as Stadium Course, a PGA Tour hosting course
- Stunning mountain backdrop
- Ranked inside the top 100 courses in Arizona by Top 100 courses and Golf Digest
Signature Holes
The 9th hole, a stunning par 5 that plays back toward the clubhouse, perfectly captures the beauty and challenge of the Champions Course. Stretching over 550 yards from the back tees, it invites a bold tee shot down a fairway framed by desert vegetation and subtle elevation changes.
The green is guarded by bunkers and slopes that make club selection crucial, rewarding those who find the right angle on approach.
Post Round
After your round, unwind at the Champions Patio Bar, which overlooks the 9th green and offers a relaxed, sun-soaked setting for breakfast, lunch, or a well-deserved drink. The menu features a great selection of American classics, local favourites, and refreshing beverages, all served with a view of the desert landscape.
For a different flavour, golfers can also visit the nearby Toro Restaurant & Rum Bar at the Stadium Course for vibrant Pan-Latin dishes and over 150 varieties of rum.
Our view
The Champions Course at TPC Scottsdale is the perfect complement to its world-famous counterpart, a little less showy, but every bit as enjoyable. Its natural desert flow, clever design, and year-round playability make it a favorite among those seeking a more relaxed yet rewarding round.
