The Match Course, PGA National Resort overview
Par: 72 | Yardage: 6,841 | Designer: Andy Staples | Founded: 2018
PGA National is known for championship golf, but The Match Course offers a refreshing twist. Designed by Andy Staples and opened in 2018, this is one of the most creative and unconventional layouts in Florida. Built to prioritise fun, strategy, and flexibility over traditional stroke play. Whether you're squaring off in a match with friends or just looking to mix it up, this course brings a new energy to the PGA National lineup.
The course throws tradition out the window offering a range of tee options to be used during the round! There are even the 'Pelican' tees to offer a course that is just par-3s.
Golf course overview
The Match Course breaks away from traditional design, offering flexibility and risk-reward scenarios on nearly every hole. Greens are large and contoured, allowing for a variety of pin positions and playing styles.
With fewer forced carries and an emphasis on options rather than punishment, it is one of the most enjoyable and versatile courses at the resort.
Signature Holes
The par-4 14th at just 327 yards is accessible in one, however deep rough and large bunkers await wayward tee shots and quickly turn a birdie opportunity into a scramble to avoid bogey.

The unique layout encourages creativity and match play strategy, inspired by classic templates like Punchbowl, Biarritz, and Redan.
