Gran Coyote Golf Course overview
The Nick Price-designed course at Gran Coyote Golf is an 18-hole, par-71 layout that works its way through the coastal jungle landscape. The fairways are relatively wide however the wind can play a factor both off the tee and with your approach into the greens as it is known to whip in off the nearby ocean.
With excellent putting surfaces and manicured fairways, it’s an enjoyable course to experience in Playa del Carmen, and although 7000 yards off the tips there are many teeing options to suit all golfers.
Despite having only opened in 2011, the course has already gained recognition as a qualifying course for the World Amateur Championship.
The highlight of the round will come at the par-3 5th hole. Measuring 148-yards from the championship tees it may appear easy on paper, however, golfers are met with a difficult tee shot into a green protected both left and right by bunkers and a large water hazard. Anything short is destined for trouble and even if you hit the green, the undulating putting surface is challenging.
