But with a heritage dating back to the 1920s, the popular South-East Asian country is home to some spectacular layouts that have played host to European Tour events. Alpine Golf & Sports Club

Often ranked among Thailand’s finest, Alpine Golf & Sports Club is a lush, tree-lined course crafted from flat rice paddies into rolling terrain with strategic bunkering and water hazards. It rose to international fame after hosting the 2000 and 2004 Johnnie Walker Classics, where Tiger Woods claimed victory. With its tight fairways and slick greens, Alpine offers a championship-level challenge in a serene, tropical setting just outside Bangkok.

The Old Course at Siam Country Club has hosted the Thailand Open and annually welcomes the Honda LPGA Thai Tournament. Most holes surround a lily-covered creek with water featuring between the 15th and 17th, with those three holes resembling Augusta’s Amen Corner. The Old Course is easily one of the best golf courses in Thailand.

Pineapple Valley Golf Club

Pineapple Valley Golf Club is a very playable layout with plenty of water and sand traps. It’s the type of course that is not too tough for high handicappers but will still provide a challenge for the more seasoned golfer. The Singtoh Island is also in sight on the Par 3, 15th with panoramic views of a stereotypically beautiful Thai island. Banyan is long, accessible and thoroughly enjoyable.

Despite only dating back to 2007, Black Mountain has already hosted both European and Asian Tour events. The experience here is very unique with wildlife strolling the fairways alongside you.

The Canyon Course witnessed one of the best comebacks in golfing history when Tiger Woods pegged back Ernie Els and won the 1998 Johnnie Walker Classic in a playoff. With those sorts of names having played here, you’ll soon realise how tough a test the Canyon Course really is. Prepare yourself for a challenge. The course itself boasts several hazards, meaning accurate tee shots and precision play are key.
