The resort is home to three exceptional golf courses, and it was the hosting venue of the 2010 Ryder Cup, making it a very accessible Ryder Cup venue you can play! Golf Courses

Celtic Manor golf is spectacular. To begin with, the Twenty Ten is the holy grail of golf at Celtic, the Ryder Cup venue is nothing short of iconic, landing its place as one of the best golf courses in Wales. Measuring a staggering 7493 yards from the back tees, the parkland course has a very links-like feel, with long rough and water features to play around.

The Montgomerie course, named after its renowned architect Colin Montgomerie, is another stunning parkland course. The dramatic tee shots exhibit magnificent views over the Usk Valley, showcasing the cascading hills that are incorporated into the course.

Roman Road, the original of all the Celtic Manor courses, was founded in 1995 and has since hosted many European Tour events. This par-70 course measures 6406 yards, looks over the Severn Estuary and has some spectacular holes, including the 16th- its signature. Although the shortest hole on the property, this short par-3 has three bunkers protecting the green demanding accuracy from its players.

Finally, there are two luxurious clubhouses, which often host some big names. While you enjoy your post-game drinks, you can people watch at the 19th holes reminiscing over your round. There is also the state-of-the-art Top Tracer Range, where guests can hone their skill with swing stats, and ball speed and use the ultimate practice tool before the game. Downstairs is a well-equipped pro shop where you can stock up on premium brands and balls before hitting the track.

Top tip- Celtic Manor provides complimentary shuttles across the resort, ensuring you make your tee times and back for evening reservations.

Accommodation

Celtic Resort welcomes its guests to 5-star luxury, with 330 newly refurbished rooms that ensure every golfer has all amenities to rest and recoup after their round. Each en-suite is adorned with marble features, with a well-crafted design, adding to the hotel's opulent feel.

For large groups of golfers, there are the Hunter Lodges available. Each lodge is immaculately positioned with views over the rolling hills of the resort, offering open-plan spaces with sauna and hot tubs – perhaps making it a great venue for a stag-do golf trip. Especially as it is so close to Newport and Cardiff, renowned for being a great night out.

Roman Road Course

Roman Road, the original course at Celtic Manor, is bordered by woodland and offers a challenging track with a variety of features. It boasts long, open fairways, but also several twists and turns through the trees and treacherous sloping greens. Designed by Ryder Cup Legend Colin Montgomerie, the first and last holes of this challenging par 69 parkland golf course were based on the foundation of the original Wentwood Hills golf course, with the land from the old Coldra Woods Academy course being used to construct the fascinating layout of The Montgomerie.
