Golf course overview
Designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., the Atlantic Championship Course makes excellent use of its natural landscape. Generous fairways invite confident driving, but thoughtful positioning is essential, with strategic bunkering and elevated greens placing an emphasis on strong approach play.
Coastal winds, particularly on the back nine, add an extra layer of challenge, while fast, contoured greens ensure the course remains engaging for stronger players without becoming overly punishing.
Signature holes
The closing stretch is the standout, with holes running alongside the Atlantic coastline. The par-4 16th and par-3 17th deliver striking ocean views and demand full commitment in windy conditions.
The par-5 18th provides a fitting finish, combining length, elevation change and well-placed bunkers as you play toward a green set beneath the historic Penha Longa Monastery.
Post round
After golf, the Penha Longa Resort offers a range of high-quality dining options, from relaxed bars to more refined restaurants. It’s an ideal place to unwind, with attentive service and views that reflect the resort’s luxury feel.
