    About Gleneagles 5*

The Gleneagles Resort is set amidst a stunning French chateau, offering comfortable guestrooms with all the modern luxuries you would expect from such a renowned venue. The wealth of leisure facilities and outdoor activities available on-site are just some added extras to this perfect resort.

In 2014, for the third year in a row, Gleneagles Golf Resort was awarded the “Best Golf Resort in the World” at the Daily Telegraph UltraTravel Awards

    Golf courses

With three championship golf courses, Scotland’s PGA National Golf Academy, and regarded as one of the great golf resorts of the world, golf is at the very heart of Gleneagles. There has been golf here for nearly a century, with the first course – The King’s Course – dating back to 1919.

Three 18-hole championship courses provide golfers with a unique choice and spectacular views of the surrounding countryside. The PGA Centenary is a Jack Nicklaus signature course and hosted The 2014 Ryder and will host The 2019 Solheim Cup. The King's and The Queen's courses are considered two of James Braid's finest creations offering a classic heathland and inland links test. The PGA National Academy Course is a 9-hole par 3 course available for more spontaneous golfing enjoyment for families and beginners.

Situated in Auchterarder, Perthshire, the Gleneagles hotel is near the Grampian Mountains for those looking to add some extra scenery to their break.

    Gleneagles hotel information

The superb Gleneagles hotel is set in 850 acres of land at the foot of the Scottish Highlands, also known as ‘the palace in the glens’. This world class golf resort offers guests an unrivalled choice of sports and leisure facilities, in addition to the superfluous golf on-site. Gleneagles has 232 luxurious guest bedrooms and suites, each offering the perfect retreat in a tranquil setting. The historic venue retains its traditional ambience, and a ratio of more than one staff member to every guest ensures an unprecedented level of service.

From the two Michelin star chef, Andrew Fairlie, to the Mediterranean themed Deseo Restaurant, Gleneagles Scotland offers a wealth of food and beverage facilities. A selection of restaurants and bars ensure that guests will always be spoilt for choice, with the quality and service of food always kept to the highest standards. Deseo is the hotel’s on-site Mediterranean restaurant, and a great place to try out a various range of foods – from pizza, pasta and tapas to fresh seafood and great steaks.

The Dormy Clubhouse Bar & Grill is the perfect setting to look out onto the stunning golf course. Located next to the Kings and Queens 18th holes, the picturesque panoramic views set the tone to soak in the atmosphere, enjoy some famous malt whisky and enjoy some modern bar food classics.

Auchterarder 70, located within The Dormy Clubhouse, is an atmospheric 1920s-style oak-panelled bar – named after the hotel’s original telephone number – and is a newcomer to the Gleneagles stable, serving craft beer and bar snacks.

With two Rosettes to its name, The Strathearn offers stylish service and magnificent views, plus the chance to sample the highest quality local produce, from mountain lamb to game off the moor. The dedicated team of award winning chefs lovingly prepares each dish.

    Things to see and do

Situated in the heart of Scotland, Gleneagles is perfect for visiting the Grampian Mountains, the Lake of Menteith and numerous castles, stately homes and picturesque whisky distilleries.

Gleneagles Hotel isn’t just famous for its world class golf - the estate also offers an amazing selection of outdoor pursuits to ensure all non- golfers have plenty to keep them occupied whilst on a golf break. With leisure pursuits such as Clay pigeon shooting and horse riding in the on-site equestrian school, to off road driving and the traditional sport of falconry, there is a sport or activity to suit every taste and need.

Gleneagles also runs a Gundog school, working with the school’s own Labradors to teach guests how to handle a trained Gundog. The only school of its kind in the world, Gleneagles is the only place to experience this extraordinary traditional Scottish sport.

The only drawback was the food was not piping hot but since it was a buffet, this is to be expected.
