Mission Resort + Club overview
Location: Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida | Accommodation: Hotel rooms, suites & private villas | Golf: Two championship courses
Mission Resort + Club is one of Central Florida’s most distinctive golf resorts, offering a peaceful, character-rich escape just 45 minutes northwest of downtown Orlando. Set across more than 1,100 acres of rolling hills, lakes, and orange groves, the resort blends Spanish Colonial architecture with championship golf and a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere.
Unlike many Florida resorts, Mission is defined by elevation changes, open landscapes, and a sense of space rarely found in the region. With two highly regarded championship courses, a variety of accommodation options, and excellent leisure facilities, it is an ideal choice for golfers seeking quality, character, and value away from the theme park crowds.
Golf Courses
The resort is home to two of the most respected and scenic courses in Central Florida, both offering elevation changes and natural terrain uncommon in the area.
- El Campeón Course – The resort’s flagship layout and one of Florida’s oldest courses, El Campeón is a classic championship test featuring rolling fairways, dramatic elevation changes, and water hazards throughout. It rewards thoughtful course management and confident shot-making. The signature par-5 17th, known as Devil’s Delight, is a memorable double-dogleg risk-reward challenge.
- Las Colinas Course – A more forgiving and relaxed counterpart to El Campeón, Las Colinas offers wider fairways, scenic lake views, and a gentler test suitable for all abilities. Despite its resort-friendly nature, it still provides strategic interest and consistently excellent conditioning.
Both courses benefit from a peaceful setting free of surrounding housing, allowing golfers to enjoy uninterrupted rounds framed by nature and wildlife.
Accommodation
Mission Resort + Club offers a wide range of accommodation styles, making it suitable for couples, families, and golf groups.
- Hotel rooms & suites – Spacious deluxe rooms and suites feature traditional décor, marble and granite bathrooms, and screened balconies overlooking the golf courses, lakes, or tennis courts. Located near the pool and dining venues, they offer comfort and convenience.
- Private villas – Two- and three-bedroom villas offer a true home-from-home experience, complete with living areas, kitchens, dining spaces, and screened balconies. Ideal for groups and longer stays, they provide extra space and privacy while remaining close to resort amenities.
Restaurant & Bars
With multiple dining venues on-site, guests can enjoy a variety of relaxed and social dining experiences without leaving the resort:
- La Hacienda – A popular breakfast venue offering a generous buffet to start the day.
- Nicker’s Clubhouse Restaurant – Located beside the golf shop, ideal for post-round lunches, drinks, and sports viewing.
- El Conquistador Restaurant – The resort’s signature dinner venue, serving classic cuisine in a refined yet welcoming setting.
- La Margarita Lounge – Open late, offering drinks, casual bites, and big-screen TVs, perfect for unwinding after a day on the course.
Spa & Leisure
Beyond golf, Mission Resort + Club offers excellent leisure facilities:
- Spa Marbella – A tranquil spa offering massages, facials, and body treatments, including golfer-focused therapies designed to relieve post-round tension.
- El Corredor Fitness Centre – A fully equipped gym to keep guests active between rounds.
- Outdoor pool & cabana – A relaxing pool area with refreshments available from La Chiquita Cabana.

Did You Know
Mission Resort + Club was inspired by founder Nick Beucher’s 1,400-mile horseback journey through Mexico in 1939. The Spanish Colonial architecture seen across the resort reflects the style he admired on his travels, giving Mission its distinctive character and sense of history.
Golf courses at Mission Resort + Club
El Campeón Course
El Campeón is one of the oldest golf courses in Florida, having been built in 1917. Today, El Campeón is regarded as one of the best courses in Central Florida, having been ranked the #9 best course layout in the US in 2016 by GolfAdvisor. The course features undulation changes atypical of Florida, with up to 85 feet of elevation changes. Mature pine and magnolia trees line the fairways and great natural wildlife can be seen throughout the round.
Las Colinas Course
Las Colinas was built as a perfect complement to El Campeón, its sister course at Mission Resort + Club. The course is an inland links style that features wide fairways but demands precise shot placement. Las Colinas is Spanish for “The Hills” and the name fits it perfectly with the rolling hills throughout the fairways and sloped greens. Similar to El Campeón, the course is void of any houses, allowing you to enjoy the beautiful landscape and wildlife this course has to offer.
