Pinhal, Vilamoura
Algarve, Portugal
Pinhal, Vilamoura overview
Pinhal, Vilamoura is one of the older courses in the Vilamoura complex, opening in the mid-1970s and originally designed by Frank Pennink and then revamped by Robert Trent Jones a decade later. It boasts a beautiful clubhouse and a fantastic well-stocked bar that has a lovely terrace, perfect for letting the afternoon drift away after your round.
The practice facilities are state of the art, with an impressive driving range and short-game area to hone your skills before the difficult test at Pinhal.
Pinhal, Vilamoura overview
Pinhal, Vilamoura boasts an excellent course; the woodland layout is a testing par-72, with a parkland feel and hazards designed to make you think before you play. Like a lot of the great courses in the Algarve, a heavy line of Umbrella and Atlantic Pine trees make hitting the fairway off the tee a real challenge.
Signature Holes
The 17th hole in particular requires some strategic play as the journey to the green takes a sharp 90-degree bend, defended by trees. To add to the challenge, the green is also guarded by bunkers, making this par-five one you won't forget.
