Planning My First Golf Trip to Orlando, Florida

I recently had the exciting opportunity to take an employee golf trip to Orlando, Florida, one of the top golf destinations in the United States. As a newer golfer, I was both nervous and excited for my first true golf trip experience. Orlando is known for its world-class theme parks, but I quickly learned it’s also home to an incredible variety of championship golf courses, golf resorts, and unforgettable on-course experiences. If you’re considering a golf vacation to Orlando, here’s a firsthand look at the courses we played and what makes this destination so special.

Orlando Golf Course Highlights

El Campeón at Mission Resort + Club

On Tuesday morning, we teed off at El Campeón at Mission Resort + Club, one of the most historic and scenic golf courses near Orlando. In a state known for its flat terrain, El Campeón stands out thanks to its surprising elevation changes and rolling hills.

With water in play on 13 holes and dramatic elevation shifts, this course delivers a memorable and challenging round. The layout rewards smart course management while still offering breathtaking views throughout. If you're looking for a unique Florida golf experience that feels different from traditional flat courses, El Campeón should absolutely be on your list.

Disney’s Magnolia Golf Course

On Wednesday, we played Disney’s Magnolia Golf Course affectionately known as the “happiest place on turf.” As we walked up to the pro shop, we were greeted by a Minnie Mouse-themed golf cart out front, which made for the perfect photo opportunity.

Inside the pro shop, there was a fun selection of Disney-themed golf apparel and accessories, blending the magic of Disney with championship-level golf. Surprisingly, my favorite part of the day wasn’t just the round itself - it was the wildlife. We spotted alligators, bobcats, turkeys, rabbits, and even a mama coyote with her babies. It was a true reminder that Florida golf courses offer incredible natural scenery and wildlife encounters.

One standout feature of the course is “Grumpy’s Gauntlet,” a challenging stretch from holes 14–17 that was added during a recent renovation. This stretch adds a strategic test to the round and is a must-play for golfers visiting Walt Disney World Golf. Mickey Mouse shaped bunker The happiest place on turf! Tee-off essentials

Arnold Palmer’s Bay Hill Club & Lodge

No Orlando golf trip would feel complete without experiencing Arnold Palmer’s Bay Hill Club & Lodge, one of the most iconic golf courses in Florida. Located in the heart of Orlando, Bay Hill is synonymous with championship golf and the lasting legacy of Arnold Palmer himself.

Best known as the longtime host of the Arnold Palmer Invitational, a premier PGA TOUR event held each March, Bay Hill offers the rare opportunity to play where the pros compete. Walking the same fairways that have challenged the world’s best golfers adds an entirely new level of excitement to the round.

The course layout is both strategic and demanding, with water in play on half the holes and a finishing stretch that requires precision and confidence. Beyond the course, the club atmosphere reflects Palmer’s welcoming spirit- classic, refined, and deeply rooted in golf tradition.

For anyone planning a golf trip to Orlando, playing Arnold Palmer’s Bay Hill isn’t just another tee time- it’s a bucket-list experience and a chance to connect with one of the most respected names in the history of the game. Arnold Palmer's Bay Hill Club & Lodge

Beyond the Scorecard: The Full Orlando Golf Vacation Experience

There’s so much more to a golf vacation in Orlando than just your score. Food, scenery, relaxation, and connection are all part of the experience.

Whether it’s soaking in a hot tub after your round, floating in a resort-style pool, or enjoying a delicious post-round dinner (salmon or fettuccine Alfredo were favorites on our trip), these moments are just as important as your time on the course. Rooftop Pool & Restaurant

One of my favorite off-course highlights was visiting Disney Springs after our round. From shopping to incredible dining options, it’s the perfect place to unwind after a day on the fairways. Orlando truly offers the perfect blend of golf, nightlife, entertainment, and world-class dining. Food at Disney Springs
