Links Course
at La Hacienda Alcaidesa Links Golf Resort
Sotogrande, Spain
Overview
Alcaidesa Links is an 18-hole, par-72 course that was designed by Peter Aliss and Clive Clark. It’s the only links type golf course in Southern Spain. It borders the Mediterranean sea and offers stunning views of the rock of Gilbraltar. The newer Heathland course, designed by Dave Thomas, was opened in October 2007 and offers more of an inland feel, with undulating fairways where a buggy is a must. It is truly reminiscent of a classic Scottish seaside layout, complete with heather and gorse bushes. There have been some recent improvements made to make it suitable for all handicappers; the fairways have been improved and widened while the greens have been levelled off. You are also treated to some magnificent views over the Mediterranean to Gibraltar and on a clear day you can see the Atlas Mountains in North Africa.
