La Cala Golf Resort overview
La Cala Golf Resort is one of Spain’s premier golf holiday destinations, set within 1,000 acres of unspoiled Andalusian countryside at the base of the Mijas Mountains. Ideally located just 35 minutes from Málaga Airport and 20 minutes from Marbella, this resort combines accessibility with Mediterranean tranquillity for an unforgettable golfing experience.
With three championship golf courses, luxurious accommodation options, a renowned spa, and a wide array of leisure and dining options, it’s no wonder La Cala Golf Resort is one of the most popular venues for a Spanish golf holiday. Whether you're planning a short golf break in the Costa del Sol or a longer golf holiday, La Cala offers everything you need for a relaxing and memorable stay.
Golf Courses
A true golfer’s paradise, La Cala Golf Resort features three stunning 18-hole championship courses, America, Asia, and Europa, each offering a unique test of skill set against the stunning backdrop of the Spanish coastline and the Sierra de Mijas mountains.
- America Course: Formerly known as the North Course, the America layout offers wide fairways, fewer bunkers, and elevated tee boxes with dramatic views. The generous fairways make it ideal for longer hitters, although elevation changes and small greens present a real challenge.
- Asia Course: The most technical of the three, the Asia Course demands precision and strategy. Narrow fairways, water hazards, and elevated greens provide a true test of accuracy and course management, making it a favourite among skilled players.
- Europa Course: The Europa Course is the most forgiving layout at La Cala and perfect for mid to high handicappers. Featuring generous fairways and flatter terrain, it’s still a championship-quality design and an excellent option for a second or third round during your golf break.
All three courses are designed by Cabell Robinson and supported by the La Cala Golf Academy, making the resort a great choice for both seasoned players and beginners.

Golf courses at La Cala Golf Resort
America Course
This par-72 is popular in the area, and compared to the Asia and Europa golf courses, the America is the longest and considered by many as the toughest. However, it's a pleasure to play with fantastically undulating fairways and an exciting landscape that has you playing from elevated tees and taking shots across cavernous carries. America is known as the 'premium course' at La Cala, completing what is a brilliant and very popular resort.
Asia Golf Course
The Asia Course at La Cala is built in the mountainous landscape of the region. Even though water is only present on two holes, the course has plenty of hazards, with around half of the tight greens being protected by defensive bunkers that require tough approach shots to their elevated position,s making club selection and accuracy key to a successful round.
Europa Golf Course
La Cala Europa is the most forgiving of the three courses at La Cala Resort, but also the longest. Stretching to 6,577 yards, it offers a solid test for players of all abilities. The scenic Ojén River comes into play on eight holes, with golfers crossing five bridges throughout the round, adding both challenge and charm. Surrounded by local flora such as lavender, eucalyptus, and olive trees, the course provides an ideal setting for an enjoyable day of golf.
