Gondwana Game Reserve is a luxury Big five game reserve located just outside of Mossel Bay, providing the perfect safari break for golfing visiting the Garden Route. Covering 11,000-hectare, this malaria-free private game reserve offers exhilarating game drives in a dramatic mountain landscape where you will be able to spot elephant, buffalo, giraffe, lion, and hippo as well as many other species.

Golf Courses

Located in the Garden Route, there are golf courses with spectacular views just a short distance from the Gondwana Game Reserve, meaning you can be on the course in the morning and on a game drive in the afternoon!

Some golf courses in the nearby area include the Pinnacle Point Golf Estate which is only a 20 minute drive from Gondwana, and the three courses at the stunning Fancourt Hotel & Country Club which all rank in the top 20 courses in South Africa.


Gondwana offers a range of unique and luxurious accommodation options across the Game Reserve, catering for any group whether it’s families, romantic breaks, or a holiday with friends.

There are 14 open-plan Kwena Lodge Suites which provide incredible 180-degree views due to their location within the Reserve. Take advantage of the cosy fireplace, lavish bathrooms with a deep bath, and starlights for night-time star gazing!

For families, the Kwena Lodge or Lehele Lodge Villas are recommended as they provide more privacy and have an open-plan design with the Big 5 Game Reserve right on your doorstep.

The Tented Eco Camp runs entirely on solar power and local water sources, and is plastic-free! Relax in this intimate, luxury African safari setting whilst knowing you’re helping make a difference.

Unwind in total luxury in the Ulubisi House, an incredibly stylish yet simple villa situated privately in the reserve’s 1000-hectare walking area.

Restaurant & Bars

There are a variety of dining options at Gondwana, from breakfast or an evening barbeques at the boma to a tasteful meal in the lodge dining room. There is also a bar which has a variety of wines and other drinks available.
