Jumeirah Earth Course overview

Location: Dubai | Style: Parkland | Length: ~ 7,706 yards | Par: 72 | Designer: Greg Norman | Founded: 2009 (opened for the season-finale event)

Nestled within the sophisticated residential and leisure community of Jumeirah Golf Estates, the Earth Course is a commanding representation of Greg Norman’s vision for a tournament-level parkland layout in the Middle East.

The bones of the course draw direct inspiration from the great tree-lined, water-guarded classics of Europe and the USA. The course has mature fairways, abundant bunkering, and rich landscaping, all crafted on a desert canvas.

From its inception, the Earth Course was intended to deliver more than mere playability; it was built for championship golf, hosting the season-ending DP World Tour Championship and demanding both power and precision.

Course highlights

  • A tree-lined corridor design: more than 3,500 trees frame fairways, lending a true parkland feel despite the desert surroundings.
  • Championship length: stretching to around 7,700 yards from the back tees, the Earth Course demands length and accuracy in equal measure.
  • Strategic water and bunkering: With over 100 bunkers and multiple lakes/streams woven through the layout, the hazards play as prominently as the fairways.
  • Championship pedigree: Home of the DP World Tour Championship, the Earth Course has welcomed top-tier professionals and memorable moments.

Signature Holes

While numerous holes stand out, the latter end of the round truly makes its mark, in particular, the finishing sequence featuring water and the creek-lined 18th. This par 5 dogleg right sweeps up to the green with a creek running full length of the hole, dividing fairway risk lines and demanding well-thought-out decisions.

Clubhouse & amenities

The clubhouse at Jumeirah Golf Estates complements the high-end nature of the course. Visitors can expect premium pro-shop offerings, refined dining options and contemporary facilities.

Post Round

After your round, the setting invites relaxation: enjoy drinks or dinner overlooking the 19th-hole terrace, or head to the wider resort amenities within Jumeirah Golf Estates. The calm of the landscaped residential layout juxtaposes nicely with the energy of the championship course.

Did You Know?

  • The Earth Course was the first of Norman’s Middle East designs to open, its debut aligned with the inaugural season-final event in 2009.
  • The final stretch of holes has been described by Norman himself as “the most challenging mile in golf,” a fitting statement given their dramatic routing and hazard-rich nature.
