The Nicklaus Course overview

Par: 72Yards: 7065Style: Resort

Designed by the great Jack Nicklaus and his son Steve, the Nicklaus Course at Carden Park stretches for 7,045-yards from the championship tees and is an excellent test of golf for all abilities. Unique to the Nicklaus Course are its multiple option holes like the 7th and 15th which give you two different options when it comes to tackling the hole, normally defined by the risky option and the conservative option.

Ranking 10th in Cheshire according Top 100 Courses in their 2026 rankings The Nicklaus Course is definitely a strategist dream with each shot requiring thought and it rewards you for playing with your next shot in mind.

Signature Hole

As previously mentioned the par-r 7th hole is a very strategic hole and probably the most memorable. Bigger hitters can take it over the stream that splits the fairway and give themselves a very small approach shot.

For lesser hitters the more standard route is to hit onto the fairway right of the stream and potentially play the whole as a par-5.

Post round

After taking on the Nicklaus Course, golfers can enjoy everything Carden Park has to offer as one of the UK’s leading golf resorts. The clubhouse and resort bars provide the perfect setting for a post-round drink, whether you are celebrating a strong score or discussing the risk-reward choices that shaped your round.

For groups staying overnight, the wider resort experience is a major part of the appeal. From relaxed dining and stylish lounges to luxury accommodation and the award-winning spa, Carden Park makes it easy to unwind after golf.

Our view

The Nicklaus Course is the more strategic of Carden Park’s two layouts and is ideal for golfers who enjoy thinking their way around a course. It is not simply about distance from the tee; good positioning, smart club selection, and knowing when to take on a risk are all key to scoring well.

What we like most is the variety. The option holes, clever bunkering, water hazards, and scenic estate setting keep the round interesting from start to finish. It feels like a true resort course, playable enough for mixed-ability groups but with enough design detail to challenge better players.
