Cheshire Course overview

Par: 72Yards: 6779Style: Parkland

Framed by mature trees, sandstone outcrops and far-reaching views towards the Welsh hills, the Cheshire Course is a course that rewards confident ball striking, thoughtful course management, and a steady touch around the greens.

Opened in the early 1990s as part of Carden Park’s rise into one of the UK’s leading golf resorts, the Cheshire Course offers a contrasting test to the resort’s Nicklaus Course and still ranks highly in Cheshire according to Top 100 Courses (9th in 2026).

With its blend of woodland, elevation changes, natural hazards, and strategic bunkering, it provides a memorable round that builds towards one of the most scenic finishes in the region.

Signature Hole

The 18th hole is the standout moment on the Cheshire Course and a fitting finale to the round. Played from an elevated tee, it offers sweeping views over the resort and out towards the Welsh hills, creating one of Carden Park’s most memorable golfing vistas.

While the scenery is a highlight, the hole still demands focus. A well-placed tee shot is essential to find position and set up the best angle into the green, making it a closing hole that blends visual drama with a final test of control and composure.

Post Round

After your round on the Cheshire Course, Carden Park offers plenty of ways to relax and make the most of the resort setting. Golfers can head back to the clubhouse for a well-earned drink, enjoy a casual bite to eat, or settle in for a longer meal at one of the resort’s restaurants.

For those staying overnight, the wider resort facilities add real appeal. The award-winning spa is ideal for unwinding after 18 holes, while the hotel’s bars and lounges provide a relaxed setting to reflect on the round.

Our view

The Cheshire Course is a superb choice for golfers looking for a traditional parkland test in a relaxed resort setting. It may be slightly less demanding than the Nicklaus Course, but it offers plenty of character, with tree-lined fairways, natural elevation changes, and scenic views that make it a pleasure to play from start to finish.
