The Wales National Course overview
Location: Hensol, Wales | Style: Parkland | Length: 7,433 yards | Par: 73 | Designer: Peter Johnson | Founded: 2003
Set within the Vale Resort’s 650-acre South Wales estate, the Wales National is the resort’s headline championship test: a long, strategic parkland course measuring 7,433 yards from the championship tees. Designed by Peter Johnson and opened in 2003, it is widely noted as one of the longest courses outside the United States, with rolling fairways, water features, and countryside views creating a big-course feel just 15 minutes from Cardiff.
Purpose-built to challenge the modern golfer, the Wales National blends scale with variety. Its par-73 routing keeps the pace of the round changing, while large greens, natural hazards, and mature woodland give it strong stay-and-play appeal for golf breaks in Wales.

Location
"The Wales National is a true championship test in every sense. Its sheer length immediately stands out, but it’s the intelligent design and variety that make it memorable. You’ll need power off the tee, but equally, a sharp strategic mind to navigate the large greens and well-placed hazards."
