Manual QA Engineer
Role Overview:
Golfbreaks is a travel agency specialising in golf holiday packages. We are looking for a Mid-Level QA Engineer to take ownership of quality across a defined product area and support the delivery of reliable, high-quality software.
You will work closely with a cross-functional team consisting of product owners, designers, frontend and backend developers, supporting the delivery of multiple applications with a primary focus on internal systems, and supporting APIs.
This role suits someone with solid commercial QA experience, who is comfortable working independently within a project, contributing to requirements, and ensuring quality through structured and risk-based testing, however support will come from a QA lead where necessary.
The role follows a hybrid working model, with a minimum of 3 days per week in the office.
Key Responsibilities:
- Take ownership of testing for a specific product or project, ensuring quality throughout the delivery lifecycle (this number may increase in the future)
- Work closely with Product owners and Developers to refine requirements and define acceptance criteria
- Plan and execute manual testing activities, including functional, regression, and integration testing
- Perform API testing using tools such as Postman
- Identify, log, and manage defects, clearly communicating impact and priority – Jira
- Actively contribute to daily stand-ups and sprint ceremonies, providing QA insight
- Collaborate with developers to resolve issues efficiently and validate fixes
- Maintain clear and concise test documentation where required
- Monitor builds and releases (via CI/CD pipelines) and align testing activities accordingly
- Ensure appropriate browser and device coverage for your product area
- Investigate and support resolution of live issues reported by the business
- Contribute to improving QA processes, test coverage, and overall quality practices
Required Skills and Experience:
- 3+ years’ experience in a software QA role
- Strong understanding of QA within an Agile development environment
- Experience owning testing for features or projects end-to-end
- Solid experience in: Functional testing, Regression testing, Integration testing & Acceptance testing
- Experience with manual API testing (e.g. Postman, Swagger)
- Familiarity with Jira (or similar issue tracking tools)
- Experience working with documentation tools such as Confluence
- Awareness of CI/CD pipelines and release processes
- Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail
- Ability to identify risk and challenge requirements constructively
- Confident communicator, able to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
