Meadow Valleys Course overview
The Meadow Valleys Course at Blackwolf Run is the perfect complement to its sibling course - the River Course, offering a more expansive, open feel while maintaining the same high standard of design and challenge. Also crafted by Pete Dye, this course weaves through rolling meadows and natural valleys, giving it a distinctly different character from its tree-lined sibling.
While it may appear more forgiving at first glance due to its wider fairways and panoramic vistas, the layout is still filled with Dye’s trademark complexity—strategic bunkering, deceptive visuals, and intricately contoured greens.
Meadow Valleys plays over 7,400 yards from the back tees and tests every aspect of a player’s game. The course demands thoughtful club selection and precise shot execution, especially on its approach shots and around the greens. It features several elevated tee boxes and greens that offer stunning views of the surrounding countryside.
The course’s back nine was used in combination with the River Course for the U.S. Women’s Open composite layout, underscoring its tournament-level pedigree. Together, the two courses at Blackwolf Run create a dynamic and varied 36-hole experience that challenges even the most seasoned players.
Signature Holes
Hole 14 on the Meadow Valleys Course is a picturesque par 4 that begins with an elevated tee shot into a narrowing fairway set in a natural valley. The approach requires a precise carry over a deep ravine to reach a green perched on a plateau, guarded by bunkers and steep slopes.
It’s a strategic, high-risk hole that rewards accuracy and showcases Pete Dye’s signature design style.
