Omaha Beach Golf Club overview

Location: Normandy, France | Facilities: 36 holes across two historic courses, flexible championship layouts & coastal scenery | Style: Historic links-style golf with strategic variety

Omaha Beach Golf Club is one of Normandy’s most memorable golf destinations, combining dramatic coastal scenery with a layout steeped in history. Overlooking the famous D-Day landing beaches, the club offers a unique blend of natural beauty and thoughtful course design, making it a must-visit for golfers travelling to northern France.

The club features two original 18-hole courses, Patton (formerly La Mer) and De Gaulle (formerly Le Manoir), which together create four distinct playing experiences. Through a clever routing system, golfers can enjoy both the traditional layouts and two newer championship combinations, offering flexibility and variety throughout the week.

Golf Courses

Omaha Beach Golf Club offers four different course experiences, combining its two original layouts in creative ways to suit different days of play.

Patton Course (formerly La Mer) Style: Coastal / Links-inspired

The Patton Course runs closest to the coastline, offering stunning sea views and a true links feel. Exposed to the elements, it rewards creativity and shot-making, with changing winds adding a different dimension to every round.

De Gaulle Course (formerly Le Manoir) Style: Parkland / Tree-lined

In contrast, the De Gaulle Course provides a more sheltered, parkland-style experience. With tree-lined fairways and a slightly more forgiving setup, it offers a balanced test that complements the more exposed Patton layout.

Eisenhower Championship Layout Style: Championship composite | Routing: Back 9 of De Gaulle & front 9 of Patton

The Eisenhower Layout combines two contrasting nines to create a varied and engaging championship test. Golfers begin on the more sheltered terrain of De Gaulle before transitioning to the coastal challenge of Patton, delivering a well-rounded and memorable round.

Churchill Tour Layout Style: Championship composite | Routing: Front 9 of De Gaulle & back 9 of Patton

The Churchill Layout reverses the experience, starting with the opening holes of De Gaulle before finishing along the coastline on Patton. This routing builds towards a dramatic finish, with the closing holes often shaped by coastal winds and panoramic views.

Weekly playing format

The club operates a structured rotation system, allowing golfers to experience different layouts depending on the day of play:

Monday & Friday: Play 18 holes on either the Patton Course or De Gaulle Course Tuesday – Thursday & Saturday – Sunday: Choose between the Eisenhower Championship Layout or the Churchill Tour Layout

Patton Course

Style: Parkland

A stunning golf course built in 1985 by Guy Dupont, the Patton Course is the more prominent of the two 18-hole golf courses. Varied with undulating greens, it boasts stunning cliff-top views over the English Channel. The signature 6th hole is located on the edge of a cliff where you can enjoy beautiful views as well as looking over the charming fishing village of Port-en-Bessin.

Omaha Beach De Gaulle Course

Style: Parkland

A beautifully crafted inland layout designed by Guy Dupont, the De Gaulle Course offers a more sheltered and strategic round through rolling Normandy countryside. Tree-lined fairways and gently undulating greens place an emphasis on accuracy and course management, while the peaceful setting provides a relaxed contrast to the exposed coastal holes.

Churchill Tour Layout

Blending the front nine of De Gaulle with the back nine of Patton, the Churchill Layout offers a round that builds towards a spectacular coastal finish. Starting with strategic parkland golf before transitioning to exposed cliff-top holes, this routing provides a memorable mix of scenery, challenge, and variety, with the closing stretch offering breathtaking views over the English Channel.

Eisenhower Championship Layout

A cleverly designed championship routing, the Eisenhower Layout combines the back nine of De Gaulle with the front nine of Patton to create a varied and engaging test. Beginning in the calm, tree-lined surroundings of the inland course before opening out to dramatic coastal views, it delivers a balanced round that showcases the very best of Omaha Beach Golf Club.
