Sun Mountain Course
at Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort
Las Vegas, USA
Sun Mountain Course overview
Location: Las Vegas, Nevada | Style: Desert | Length: approx 7,112 yards from back tees | Par: 72
The Sun Mountain Course at Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort is the second of the trio of championship 18-hole layouts, all designed by Pete Dye. The Snow Mountain, Sun Mountain and Wolf Course together create a stunning 54-hole golf club.
Nestled just north‐west of the Las Vegas Strip, it offers desert terrain softened by rolling rye fairways, dramatic mountain vistas and Dye’s signature bunkering. The design blends strategic challenge with natural beauty - wide fairways invite a confident tee shot, but misplaced drives leave little margin for error among native desert hazards and tightly framed greens.
Travellers will find that Sun Mountain balances playability with enough bite to test better players. The location outside urban sprawl gives it a more tranquil, scenic feel compared with many city-adjacent courses.
Course highlights
- Designed by Pete Dye and part of his only pure designs in Nevada.
- Approx 7,112 yards from the back tees with a par of 72.
- Known for the “railroad‐tie” bunkers on fairways and distinct Dye features.
- Rolling terrain with desert backdrop and strong visual appeal; staff at the resort call it their favourite of the three courses on site.
- It hosted the MGM Resorts Championship (on the Korn Ferry Tour) in 2021.
Signature Holes
One of the standout holes is the par-3 No. 4: from the back tees it stretches about 200+ yards, requiring a carry over water, guarded by a large right bunker and little bailout on the left - a true Dye test.
Post Round
After your round, the on-site restaurant offers panoramic views over the course and mountains - a perfect setting to unwind with a drink, reflect on your round or dine in style. Practice facilities allow for a warm-up before or short game work after the round.
