Rosslare Golf Club

East Ireland, Ireland

Overview

Length: 6,728 yards | Par: 72 | Architect: Hawtree & Taylor | Opened: 1905

Located on the beautiful south-east coast of Ireland, Rosslare Golf Club is a true hidden gem, offering one of the country’s finest seaside golf experiences. Proudly home to one of Ireland’s true south-facing links, the club offers spectacular coastal views, classic dune-sculpted fairways, and a genuine test of links golf in its purest form.

Set on a rugged peninsula with sweeping views of Wexford Bay and the Irish Sea, Rosslare combines old-world charm with world-class playability, making it a must-play for any golf holiday to Ireland.

Course overview

Old Course: Designed by the legendary Hawtree & Taylor team, this classic 18-hole links course winds through natural dunes, featuring rolling fairways, firm greens, and a constant sea breeze that shapes every shot. The outward nine heads north along the coast while the back nine returns south, ensuring wind is always in play. It’s a pure, traditional links that rewards strategy, shot-making, and control over power.

Strategy and control are key here. Long hitters may be tempted to go bold, but course management and links savvy are more likely to produce a good score.

Burrow Links (12-hole): Added in 1992, this 12-hole layout is a relaxed, bunker-free course that mirrors the Old Course’s terrain and charm. Ideal for warm-ups, families, or an evening loop, it offers an enjoyable test for all levels.

Signature Holes

Two standout holes often mentioned by returning visitors are the 7th and the 14th. The 7th plays towards the sea with views that can distract even the most focused golfer, while the 14th, often into the prevailing wind, demands a precise approach to an exposed green nestled among dunes.

Clubhouse & Amenities

Rosslare’s welcoming clubhouse reflects the club’s long-standing traditions and commitment to hospitality. Whether you’re fresh off the course or simply soaking in the coastal views, you'll feel right at home.

  • Pro Shop: Fully stocked with top brands, helpful staff, and everything you need for the round.
  • Locker rooms & buggy rental: Comfortable, practical facilities to support your day on the links.
  • Terrace & bar: A cosy and casual 19th hole to enjoy post-round pints, classic pub fare, and ocean views.

Practice Facilities: The club offers a dedicated practice area, including a short-game zone and putting green, ideal for warming up or fine-tuning your game before tackling the links. It’s a low-key but well-kept setup designed with the purist golfer in mind.

Post Round

After your round, relax with a pint of Guinness or a seafood dish in the clubhouse while taking in the views of the Irish Sea. Or explore historic landmarks like Hook Lighthouse, the Irish National Heritage Park, and charming seaside villages such as Kilmore Quay.

Its proximity to Dublin and Rosslare Europort also makes it easily accessible for those travelling from the UK or Europe. Whether you're looking for a pure links challenge, a peaceful coastal escape, or a memorable stop on an Irish golf tour, Rosslare Golf Club’s Old Course is not to be missed.
