Druids Glen Course overview

Par: 71Yards: 6959

Location: County Wicklow, Ireland | Style: Parkland | Length: 7,222 yards | Par: 72 | Designer: Pat Ruddy & Tom Craddock | Founded: 1995

Set within the lush surroundings of County Wicklow - aptly known as the “Garden of Ireland” - Druids Glen Golf Course is one of the country’s most celebrated inland layouts. Designed by Pat Ruddy and Tom Craddock and opened in 1995, the course quickly rose to international prominence, earning the nickname “The Augusta of Europe” thanks to its immaculate presentation, vibrant floral displays and tree-lined fairways.

Stretching over 7,200 yards, this championship parkland course blends strategic design with visual drama. Water comes into play on numerous holes - particularly across the back nine - while doglegs, sculpted bunkering and pristine greens demand both accuracy and thoughtful shot-making. Druids Glen has hosted the Irish Open on four occasions (1996–1999) as well as the Seve Trophy, cementing its status as one of Ireland’s premier golfing destinations.

Course highlights

  • Strategic design – Water hazards feature prominently, especially on the closing stretch
  • Tree-lined fairways – A classic parkland layout with a mature, scenic feel
  • Top-ranked course – Widely regarded among the finest inland courses in Ireland

Signature Holes

The par-3 17th is one of the most memorable holes at Druids Glen. Played over water to a challenging island green, it demands absolute precision under pressure. With no margin for error and often swirling winds, it’s a dramatic late-round test that has defined many championship moments.
