Le Lac Course at Chateau des Vigiers
Bordeaux, France
Overview of Le Lec
Location: Monestier, Dordogne, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France | Style: Parkland / Water-Feature | Length: ~3,060 metres (9 holes) | Par: 36 | Designer: Donald Steel | Opened: 1992
Le Lac is one of the original nine-hole loops at Golf des Vigiers, forming part of the resort’s highly regarded 27-hole layout in the Dordogne countryside. Designed by Donald Steel, this course introduces a more testing element to the estate, with water hazards and tighter lines of play demanding accuracy and sound decision-making.
As its name suggests, Le Lac places water firmly at the heart of the challenge. Lakes and streams come into play on several holes, adding both visual appeal and strategic complexity. Combined with mature trees, subtle elevation changes and well-protected greens, Le Lac offers a sterner test than Les Vignes while retaining the same sense of balance and playability that defines Château des Vigiers.
Signature Holes
Par 3 – Water Guarded Green - Le Lac’s signature hole is a striking par 3 played over water to a well-defended green. Accuracy from the tee is essential, as anything short or offline is swiftly punished. Visually impressive and mentally demanding, it perfectly captures the character of the course and remains one of the most talked-about holes across the Vigiers estate.

- Water-Influenced Layout: Lakes and streams shape multiple holes, creating risk-reward decisions throughout the round
