Set within the Berkshire countryside, the Donnington & Co. 18-hole parkland course is both beautiful and deceptively challenging. Originally redesigned and lengthened between 1998 and 2000, it now stretches to 6,353 yards and plays as a par 71 from the back tees.

While the earlier holes offer moments of forgiveness, the closing stretch is regarded as one of the toughest finishes in the country, demanding both precision and nerve. Water hazards come into play on the 15th, 16th and 17th holes, adding drama to an already memorable round.

Overlooking the 9th and 18th greens is Snelsmore House, the course’s Grade II listed Victorian clubhouse. Rich in character, it’s the perfect place to relax before or after a round, with a welcoming bar offering both excellent hospitality and a sense of tradition.

• The 17th: A 415-yard par 4 that tests even the most experienced golfer, demanding focus and control at a critical moment in the round.
