Head of HR - Maternity Cover

Role Overview: We are seeking a Head of HR to join our talented team here at Golfbreaks to support during a period of maternity cover. Do you have strong generalist knowledge with a keen interest in projects? If so, this could be the perfect role for you.

As the Head of HR, you will be a confident HR generalist who can manage the day to day operations of a HR function, lead ongoing HR projects and partner with senior stakeholders to support the organisation’s people strategy. This role would be ideal for someone looking to make a step up in their HR career, who is hands-on with day to day operational requirements and comfortable maintaining momentum on current projects, as well as bringing their own new ideas to the table.

This role covers both the UK & USA people functions, therefore, previous experience supporting USA teams would be beneficial. We see this cover being in place for 9-12 months, ideally, with there being a period of handover in October/November with our Head of HR before their maternity leave begins.

Ideally, this would be a full time position over 5 days, however we are happy to discuss part-time as an option for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • HR Projects - Understanding the business objectives and managing these in line with the HR function and company requirements to develop the HR strategy.
  • Business Partnering - Partnering with senior management to ensure alignment on HR strategies and company goals, as well as offering guidance on HR policies.
  • Employee Relations - Oversee complex employee relations cases, ensuring compliance with legal requirements.
  • Company Culture - Leading in company-wide engagement initiatives such as engagement surveys, as well as post survey analysis and developing company-wide action plans.
  • Benefits - Lead on developing the company benefits scheme, in line with the benefits strategy and budget.
  • Employment Legislation - Keeping abreast of legislation, implementing changes, & guiding the company through changes where necessary.
  • Learning & Development - Assisting in developing the company's in-house training programmes.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience in an HR generalist role.
  • Full understanding of the HR function and best practices.
  • Comfortable working strategically while also able to roll up sleeves and get into the details.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence and build trust at all levels.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law.
  • Previous experience being involved in the implementation of an HRIS system is advantageous.
  • Previous experience supporting a USA HR function is preferred but not essential.
