The Oxfordshire Golf Course overview
Location: Oxfordshire, England | Style: Championship Parkland / Inland Links-style | Length: ~7,130–7,409 yards (varies by tee) | Par: 72 | Designer: Rees Jones | Opened: 1993
Set in the rolling countryside of Oxfordshire near the historic market town of Thame, The Oxfordshire Golf Course delivers a true championship golf experience and remains one of the most respected modern layouts in England. Designed by renowned American architect Rees Jones, this was his first course in the United Kingdom and was purpose-built to host elite tournament golf.
Located on-site at The Oxfordshire Hotel & Spa, the par-72 layout blends classic parkland aesthetics with an inland links-style challenge. Wide, undulating fairways are framed by bold bunkering, while four expansive lakes add both visual drama and strategic complexity throughout the round. With five sets of tees ranging from under 5,600 yards to over 7,400 yards, The Oxfordshire offers a demanding test for elite players while remaining highly playable for amateurs.
Signature Holes
The par-3 13th hole is widely regarded as the course’s most memorable. Played over water to a well-protected green, it demands precision and confidence from the tee and perfectly encapsulates the risk-and-reward philosophy that runs throughout the layout.
