Golfing in Nottingham

A frequent host of The Open Qualifying, Notts Golf Club, also known as ‘Hollinwell’, is a spectacular course, set amongst the Nottinghamshire heathland. Amongst its most notable holes is the 241-yard par 3 13th hole, which plays straight downhill towards a postage stamp green, surrounded by bunkers and heather. The course also boasts a stern collection of Par 5’s, most obviously the 582-yard 6th hole, where you’ll often be faced with a blind 3rd shot to the elevated green.

Sherwood Forest Golf Club joins Hollinwell in most England Top 100 golf course lists, thanks to its natural beauty, with the course weaving through pines, silver birches and oak trees. Sherwood Forest has shared The Open Qualifying responsibilities with Hollinwell and although shorter on the scorecard, is just as tough a task!

By far the most popular stay-and-play option in the area is The Nottinghamshire. With two 18-hole layouts in the Signature Course and Championship Course, dotted with troublesome water hazards throughout, The Nottinghamshire is the perfect destination for those looking to play 36 holes across different courses, without the need to leave the resort!
