The history of Prestwick Golf Club stretches back over 160 years, to the early years of golf. In 1851, 57 members of the Red Lion Inn decided to form a golf club purchasing two cottages opposite the tavern. Prestwick Golf Club holds the huge accolade of hosting the first Open Championship, a stone to the west of the clubhouse marks the spot where the first Open Championship tee shot was struck in 1860.

The 6,668 yard, par 71 golf course at Prestwick Golf Club boasts a rich heritage and offers a testing but enjoyable round of golf on a traditional links layout. Its location on the famous golfing Ayrshire coast offers prime terrain on a stretch of land unequaled anywhere in the world. Playing host to the first Open Championship, this club is perhaps one of the most historic in the world. Despite no longer hosting the major championship, this excellent course is ranked among the best in Scotland and is a must-play.
