Quinta North Course overview
The North Course at Quinta do Lago was extensively redesigned in 2014 by Beau Welling in collaboration with former Ryder Cup captain Paul McGinley. With a large investment, every major component was upgraded - including greens, tees, bunkers, drainage, irrigation, and cart paths - to ensure top-level playability and modern standards. The course is ranked #7 in the Algarve by Top 100 Golf Courses.
Four sets of tees on each hole make the course accessible for golfers of all levels, and features like undulating greens, strategically placed bunkers, umbrella pines, and water hazards mean accuracy is more important than raw power.
The course uses low-cut Bermuda grass around greens for better recovery shot options, and environmental sustainability has been integrated with solar energy, water recycling, and native planting.
Signature Holes
Hole 12 (Par 4) - A picturesque dogleg framed by pine trees with a well-protected green. Accuracy off the tee is rewarded, while misplaced drives leave a tricky approach.
Hole 18 (Par 4) - A strong finishing hole with water in play and bunkers guarding the landing zone. Demands a confident tee shot and a precise second to finish the round in style.

The North course offers championship standard looks but without the intimidating length of its sister courses, making for a brilliant day out.
