Let’s be honest, you shouldn’t need much convincing as to why going to see the Ryder Cup in person is a brilliant experience. The best spectacle in golf as Europe take on the USA, with all of golf's greats solidifying their legacies in this bi-annual showdown.

But, there’s something even more special about watching Europe's finest on home turf. Join us as we check out some of the best reasons for attending a home Ryder Cup!

Home team advantage

We make no apologies for starting here. To put it simply, we win more at home! The USA have won just two matches on European soil since the modern Ryder Cup format began in 1979 (with the whole of Europe, rather than just Great Britain & Ireland) – and some of these matches haven’t even been that close.

Many will remember the success of Tommy Fleetwood and Francesco Molinari, or ‘Moliwood’ if you prefer, in Paris, helping the Europeans to a 17.5 vs 10.5 victory. But recent years have also seen similar drubbings at Gleneagles in 2014, as well as at the K Club in 2006 – where Europe ran out 18.5 vs 9.5 victors.

If you want to see the blue and gold flag raised at the end of the week surrounded by fellow European fans, we strongly suggest booking a Ryder Cup package on this side of the Atlantic!

Showcase your patriotism

There are not too many opportunities in golf to be a part of a team, and that goes for the fans as well as the players. The Ryder Cup has given birth to some of the most iconic groups of fans, and chants (!), in the sport, with TV never truly able to mirror the on-site experience.

You know the Americans will show up in full force, silly face paint, bright costumes, and high energy. This means, it’s your duty as a European fan to out-sing, out-dress, and out-shine the USA fans as we support our players to victory when the competition returns to home soil. So go on, make some noise – Ole, Ole, Ole, Ole!

Explore Rome & Italy

Given the size of the Ryder Cup operation, the tournament usually heads to venues that can accommodate the thousands of fans in attendance, whilst also showing them a good time away from the course. The 2023 event is certainly no exception with Rome being one of the continent’s most interesting capitals!

Indulge in world-class cuisine (and wine!), whilst taking in some of the most incredible historical sights on the planet. When else are you going to go on a stunning city break that also takes in seeing Europe lift the Ryder Cup (hopefully!).

Shorter flights & cheaper costs

Best courses in Europe!

Both Europe and the USA are home to some incredible courses that feature in the top 100 courses globally, but as we know the European courses have always been some of the most characteristic and challenging of Ryder Cup venues. Some of the most notable include Le Golf National, Gleneagles and this year’s host, Marco Simone Golf & Country Club which is expected to push the players to their limits with rapid greens, intimidating drives and strategic layouts.

Fancy mirroring the pros on your trip to Italy? Why not combine your Ryder Cup package with a few rounds before or after the event? Our expert sales team can build an itinerary that includes everything from day passes, through to week-long hospitality with golf included. Whatever you want to do on your Ryder Cup break, we’ve got you covered.

Watch the best players on the planet

It sounds obvious, but there’s nothing quite like watching how the best golfers in the world go about their business; crafting a round to shoot the lowest possible number. Sure they still hit a lot of drivers, but the way they create shots is something that can only really be experienced from the ropeline.

TV simply doesn’t do justice to the quality of their ball striking, or how difficult some of the shots from around the green are. The Ryder Cup guarantees 24 of the greatest golfers, playing together on a fan-friendly layout across the week. Get yourself across there for an experience you simply won’t forget, watching names that you can tell the grandkids about for generations! You never know, it might even help your own golf game…

Thinking about attending the next Ryder Cup event?
Attend one of the most popular sports in the game, there is nothing more thrilling than seeing the best players in the world from the rope line at the Ryder Cup...
