Talon Course at Grayhawk Golf Club
Scottsdale & Phoenix, USA
Talon Course overview
The Talon Course at Grayhawk Golf Club was designed by U.S. Open Champion David Graham and Gary Panks and is described as one of the ‘most exciting and dramatic’ desert layouts in the Southwest. Rated as one of the best you can play in the region it has hosted notable amateur and professional events.
At just under 7000 yards from the back tees but with several teeing options, the Talon can be experienced by all. Stunning views of the nearby McDowell Mountains, as well as the Phoenix & Scottsdale skyline, are the norm as you work your way around this desert course that has been crafted from the natural landscape.
Many of the fairways appear a little tighter to the eye than their actual size, however, accuracy is key with desert wastelands collecting a wayward shot. The back nine is built around a series of deep box canyons with a handful of holes sitting along steep drop-offs and with dense areas Mesquite, Palo Verde and Ironwood trees coming into play. Only two holes on the course have water that comes into play including the par-3 17th with its island green.
For a post-round meal or drinks, Isabella’s Kitchen can be found just behind the 18th green offering pizzas, sandwiches, pasta, and more. Make sure Talon at Grayhawk is on your list to play when golfing in Arizona – you will not be disappointed.
